NASA Mid-Atlantic is trying to build our own flagger corps and with enough interest, we will hold a flagging course at VIR the Feb 18, 19, 20 weekend. We have had a lot of people (MM and non-MM) interested in the regular worker positions (grid, timing and scoring, tech/registration, etc.) and we only have a limited number of positions in those areas for every event (4-6). However, we have at anywhere from 10-14 flagging positions needed each weekend. So, if you become trained as a flagger, you will never be turned away when you want to work a particular weekend AND you are paid in cash rather than credits. You will be paid $75 per day plus lunch of course.
So, are any of these people below interested in learning how to flag that weekend? These people listed below are currently interested in the regular worker positions because they have not been trained in flagging.

For the training weekend, you do not receive worker credits, but you do get a free lunch, space in the worker room(s), and dinner/beer on Saturday evening. You also of course have one of the best places from which to watch the track action!!!! After your training weekend, you will be paid $75 per day to flag at our future events.

I will forward your info to Mark Adkins (Race Control) who will be leading the training. He would prefer to do the classroom training on Friday evening. Are you able to arrive Friday evening? I know that may depend on who you are riding down with. But it would be helpful to do it Friday evening since Sat morning is such a rush. But if it doesn't work out, I am sure we can arrange something for Saturday morning. And after the classroom session, you will go out on station and may work at a few stations with experienced flaggers over the weekend.

I'd like to get a group to leave Friday afternoon. I don't have friday classes so the earlier the better. Plan on 3.5 hrs and it would be nice to grap a paddock spot and have time to chenge wheels and brake pads and all that. I'd also liek to leave my car and trailer at the track overnight and ride back to the hotel with someone.

i'm done with classes at 12:05 on friday, so i would be good to leave anytime after that. i would like to grab a ride down and possibly some floor space to crash at night...i'm gonna go ahead and email Laura my information so that i can take the class and learn to flag

I can leave whenever on Friday. No classes at all. Likewise, I'd also like to get up there so I can get the car ready for the track instead of doing it on Sat. I'd also like some floorspace if that can be arranged for :-D
