Consumption test complete. Measured to .28qt per 1000 miles. That's definitely improved (software update and new PCV valve) and within "spec." The dealership offers free topping up too. Not sure that's worth the effort to save myself $5 every six months.
Sideswipe damage rubbed out almost completely. I can only tell it's there because I know it's there. Dealership didn't even see it when they checked the car in last week. Still haven't heard from the guy I hit. Maybe the paint rubbed out of his bumper nicely too? I still don't like not having closure.

maybe im just paranoid and untrusting, but personally, Id be concerned that they threw in some oil thickener or 'rebuild in a can' snakeoil with that 'free' oil change. Id keep an eye on it after the next oil change.
Boring car is still boring, but very nice to drive long distances.
Dudeman that I tapped never got in touch. Someone told me they only have 30 days to do so? So I'm in the clear?
Car is not consuming any noticeable amount of oil. Great improvement. Yay.
And finally, the car has started to smell like garbage. I can find absolutely nothing rotting away inside it and we get it cleaned (in and out) fairly regularly. I have been driving it a bit dirty lately with muddy bike racing, but there's very little dirt visible and none of it smelled. The smell is getting worse each day. I glanced around the engine bay and nothing is dead. Any ideas?

Change the cabin filter, it's probably nice and moldy.
When are you getting it tuned?

I think it's easy on your car, right next to the battery at the back of the engine bay, mine is behind the glovebox so naturally I have one sitting on a shelf that I never felt like installing.
And seriously man, a tune wakes these things right the fuck up, I wish my car had AWD so it could make decent use of it. It doesn't turn it into a super car but it gives you a Rolls Royce-esque feeling of "sufficient" acceleration no matter where you are or what gear you're in.

It is behind glovebox, but looks like a 5 minute job.
Still under warranty. We'll see how this year plays out/whether we're keeping it or not. And then I'd want to get some sort of tune that carries a warranty too I'm sure that doesn't exist, but that's what I want. It's mostly boring not because of the power (it has ~260 torques out of "the same" engine somehow), but because it is large and heavy.

The valves are different on the TFSI or whatever they're called when they're stuck in an Audi, the brand-new VW 2.0T TSI allegedly got the same thing or something similar, which is why it now makes about the same power as the Audi version. There must've been some other changes as well though, I still don't know how the fuck APR is getting 370lbs-ft out of a freaking 2.0.
The gainz are pretty freaking substantial for your motor though, you could have 265hp/327tq on 93. http://www.goapr.com/products/ecu_upgrad..._long.html
It's warrantied too, i mean, the tune itself, which is worth fuck all as far as I can tell. :dunno:

Ordered an air cabin filter and THEN took a look at the one that was in the car. Perfectly clean. Hrmph. WHAT IS DYING IN MY CAR!?

Is the smell only present when the HVAC is running, or is it most prevalent when the car has been sitting and you first get in?
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

Been to any restaurants with particularly strong scented valets recently?
for any scene in any movie or tv show in history, Goodspeed can find a gif for it.
well done.

Thank you, thank you. Mike's odor problem was just too much of a layup for that episode, I had to find just the right screen cap.

only when the car has been sitting. ac is always on when i get on because auto temp shit. clears up pretty quickly. maybe some debris rotting in the sunroof? that's my only clue right now.
