I actually kind of like the Boxster. If the price keeps dropping and I can reliably get one for under 10 grand...well, fuck. I might.

OK, maybe "hairdresser" was the wrong term. The standard car is fine - I drove a Boxster S and "got it". Point is, a lot of guys you see driving Miatas are driving them for their driving attributes, a lot of guys you see driving Boxsters couldn't care less about the car besides the image it bestows upon them - kinda going along the lines of what I would call modern Porsche culture.

GM 80s G-Body cars....... I picked up an 86 Bonneville from Jeff for the BABE rally this past weekend, and I actually like the stupid car :dunno: The chassis is so soft that the frame twists under light acceleration, the suspension floats like crazy, you can steer it with one finger, and acceleration is more of a concept than a reality, but I love it all the same  . I'll start a project thread shortly.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

I've got another one, the newer (08-10?) turbo Cobalt SS.

My uncle works at a dealership that just took a higher mileage 2008 black SS in on trade, so I was invited to take it for a test drive out to lunch.

Looks like this:

WOW.

I mean, it's a shitbox, but it's a fast shitbox. The car had nearly 80k miles on it and the interior had seen better days, but the running gear all felt pretty solid. The car was nicely equipped though, with a decent stereo, ricey stock boost gauge, and most importantly it didn't have the godawful extra spoiler and airdam kit so many of these cars get. The whole no-lift shift feature was pretty cool, too.

Apparently, the guy who traded it in was a salesman, and wanted something a bit fancier, so he opted for a used 300c. Better to eat up highway miles with, I suppose.

My quoted price would be 9k, if I'm interested.

I'm kinda tempted.

My uncle called yesterday to tell me the car was sold.

He's also kinda pissed with the management, and is interviewing for other dealerships so he'd rather not have me put up the dealer info.

EDIT: Found another newer SS for what seems to be a deal, I'd like to check it out.

As much as I want to dislike, I am really beginning to like this car. I've seen two in South Charlotte and they have a great presence.

Quote:As rumored, Porsche has revealed a new Panamera Turbo S model as the new highest-performance sedan in the sports car maker's range. With a 10 percent increase in power (50-hp) the Turbo S now delivers 550-hp from its twin-turbo 4.8-liter V8 engine with torque increasing from 516 lb-ft to 553 lb-ft. Plus, in the Sport and Sport Plus modes or during full throttle in the regular driving mode there's a solid 590 lb-ft on tap. That added power comes from a retuned ECU, plus lighter titanium-aluminum turbine compressor wheels, that also aid responsiveness.

With launch control, Porsche claims a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 191 mph.

Setting the Turbo S apart on the road is an even wider rear track with new 20-inch Turbo II wheels, plus special Porsche Exclusive side skirts and a rear spoiler. Inside, all models come with a two-tone leather finish with a new black and cream combo offered exclusively on the Turbo S.

Along with the wider track and added power, performance comes in many forms with standard features including Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) which splits torque between the rear wheels and speed sensitive steering. Plus, there is a standard sports exhaust system to let the world hear those turbos go.

Rumored to debut at the Shanghai Auto Show, the Turbo S may also appear at the New York Auto Show next month.

Pricing is a steep $173,200.

Yeah, but would you rather roll up to the cougartown wine bar in an M5 that everyone and their neighbor has or a $170k+ Panamera?!

Touche, although I'm not sure many people would know the difference between the $170K Turbo S and the base $90K version. But if your gonna spend $200K to make a splash the I'll have one of these thanks.
