Cars You Like But Know You Shouldn't

That's probably because the whole show is "really dumb".

C'mon, police pursuit typically calls for putting units far in front of the pursuit in an attempt to end it with stop sticks or using the PIT maneuver, not passing and emasculating the guy. TOP SPEEDZ really doesn't matter except for internet forum bragging rights. Plus, the vast majority of Chargers that are actually in service are the 3.5 liter V6 models, not the Hemis.

I'll throw you a bone though, here's the 2011 results of the Michigan State Police Vehicle Evaluation data:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.michigan.gov/documents/msp/VehicleTestBook2011_Web_mil_341027_7.pdf">http://www.michigan.gov/documents/msp/VehicleTestBook2011_Web_mil_341027_7.pdf</a><!-- m -->

Top speeds of cars tested:
2011 Ford Crown Vic with 3.27 rear gear ratio: 129 mph
2011 Dodge Charger with 3.5L engine: 130 mph
2011 Dodge Charger with 5.7L engine: 146 mph

There you go, you can rest easily knowing that your precious Charger is at the top of the police car heap.

Oh, except for that pesky new Chevy Caprice 9C1 which ran 148 mph.

EDIT: Incontrovertible photo proof that I JUST TOOK that the P71 is faster than a crummy old Dodge Charger.

dear easy prey, michael doesn't own a fixed gear bike and never has.

That is a tough one, normally I would say yes. I debated just ignoring him to prevent the backlash but I decided to agree with him about Eminem. I feel like 'taking the bait' would be going into why the 200 is a good car and trying to make the case. I know Mike just likes to push my buttons (or think that he is) so there is certainly no point in actually trying to make any such case. I think it is fair to say that they have made improvements across the product line (not just 200) and it will increase market share, only time will tell. I am not blind to the faults, and I admit that there are plenty of other good and better cars out there, I do think however there is reason to examine the improvements being made and acknowledge them.

As for the Police cars, we just don't n
eed to shit on this thread anymore. Someone needs to make a cop car thread if we are going to go on and on about that.

Edit- I didn't know there was a difference between fixed gear and single speed...shows how much I know about bikes (and hipsters)

You can't blame him for thinking they're one in the same.

Lol 5.7L @ 146.

Have to agree there...... if an 89 SHO can do 143mph with a 3.0L, I would think the Dodge could do a little better 22 years later with close to double the displacement.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

But I ask, why is that so funny when the Chevy with a 6.0L was 148mph? Why are we not saying OMFG CHEVY!?!?! WTF BBQ WHY NOT 240MPH!?!?!?!! Could anyone see curb weight in that report anywhere? I could not find it.

Meh, whatever. Top speed doesn't really do it for me as what makes the best police car. As I said if this is going to persist then we need to start a new thread about it.

A testosterone tripping police officer driving 140mph on a public road is about the most dangerous fucking thing Ive heard of short of street racing anyway.
those cop cars should be governed to 80mph to keep police officer dipshits from killing people in the name of "the law"
they arent supposed to chase, and a radio is faster than any car anway

Son did you drink your way through physics class or does being a mustang fanboi require you to sacrifice your brain cells to the altar of the mullet gods?

Barring a few exceptions, I've never been a big fan of newer Porsches, and even then, the Boxster always seemed like a sissy little hairdresser car (yes, I say this driving a Miata. Sue me.) But this car rocks my socks off. The culture of Porsche these days is such hauty bullshit IMO - holier-than-thou "Intelligent Performance", million-dollar advent calendars, 4,382 different 911's. I dig this car because its more like the pared down, old school Porsches I can wax lyrically about all day, not all that nonsense. But just.

I dont think you should be embarassed at all. I dare say it, but id rather have it (forget money here), than most 911s, bar the gt3/gt2/turbo and their respective RS/homologation/whatever specials. (christ enough 911s already!)

Sadly, I even like the current boxster without the spyder generation, hell I even did research on the Spec Boxster class for a while. Mid-Engine, with porsche chassis, lightweight with ability to fit a ton of tire? Call me sissy all you want but thats way more manly than some 1.6/1.8 liter econo-roadster (and I do love the miata in its own little way).

yeah only amongst a really insecure group (porsche owners) is a 250-300+ HP mid-engine roadster a "hairdressers car".

[Image: 0705_z2008_porsche_boxster_special_edition4.jpg]

If someone gives me one of these I'll slap a pink triangle on it, hang some beads from the mirror or whatever, hang out with Miata guys if I must and all the "real" Porsche guys can have a laugh. The Spyder's even better sure, but count me in for liking the regular one just fine! I too would actually prefer one over most variants of the 911.

Oh, and per the previous "discussion", the base 255HP Boxster does 163. I hope the cops can contain their laughter as they get left behind.
