Derecola-Any ideas about the engine? When I hear the bang and grind, I assume suspension failure + you eating something off of T10. What was that big doodoo stain at T9 trackout?

That pretty much sums it up. I'd just lifted to let the other car go ahead in an effort to get a run coming out of T10. I was decelerating in 4th gear at ~6k RPM (6500 redline - usually go to 5th there) when I heard the bang and crunch. I had just enough time to look at my oil pressure gauge say 0 psi before I starting sliding around in my own mess.

The part that surprised me the most was NASA left me there with 2 wheels on at the outside of the corner with just a local yellow for 3-4 laps. I couldn't move outta the way and they didn't send a truck until after the checker. I saw more than one car go by me sideways. :?

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

It was really hard to see because it was on the driver's side, where the air box and crap is. There was a shit-ton of metal shavings, oil and you could barely make out a hole where there shouldn't be one. I'll see if I can't get some pictures after the engine is pulled. Sadly, that was a $2k built motor I'd won a few years ago and it's likely a write off. Cry

I was going to ask that next. In the vid, it looked like you were only two wheels off. That must've been scary.

Fast-forward to 12:35 to see where I was. It looks like it was really only 2 laps, not the 3-4 that the standings seemed to indicate. I guess maybe it took them that long to get a truck around to me. The video doesn't really show it, but just a local yellow at T10 means people can pass pretty much up until they're in the turn. I think that's why it felt more exposed.

edit: Spec E30 crash @ ~1:00

The fella carted off on a board comes out of it with a sore neck and back, very fortunate. The other E30 driver ended up with a broken arm and rib.

These were my latest settings for 1080HD footage using iMovie, and it came out great with modest file size

well it IS 4 times the pixels....

FWIW, I think the youtube video is great quality for a track vid. Looks decent full screen even. It's not like it makes the video any better if I can count the leaves on the trees. :dunno:

(yes yes, 640k should be enough for anyone, get off my lawn, blah blah) Tongue

heh, its not a big deal about video quality... camera (actually a P&S canon) offers 720p video, might as well take advantage of it? :dunno:

Any comments from the track stunnas about the video, I know Mike put some input already, heh.
