All day long son! I'd rather get drunk all night and then vomit than have one drink and vomit! Most dark liquors other than Southern Comfort for some reason make me really angry when I drink, along with tequila.

If you like scotch you'll probably like bourbon too, pick up some knob creek or bookers.

If you want some great scotch for a reasonable price, look for Highland Park 12yr - around $45 or so. Great value. Also picked up the Balvenie 15yr. for my father-in-law - I was quite impressed.

As for bourbon, I really like Woodford Reserve - much more palatable to me than other bourbons.

do you want a kinetic watch or solar?
I have a titanium Pulsar solar watch. (Pulsar is a lower end Citizen IIRC) Really nice and Im happy with it, but in winter when you wear a lot of long sleeves sometimes it looses charge.

ahhh yes, the mint, i knew your drink didn't sound exactly like a mojito, i just couldn't put my finger on it.

I could see that being good without the specialty rum too.

I'm looking more for a kinetic - your reasons are why I wanted to stay away from a solar.

i've always drank bourbon (with ginger or coke) as my "going out drink" - never really thought of picking up a good bottle.

I haven't had a good bourbon straight, but they have seemed "harsher" to me then a scotch - but that could just be my inexperience

I know there is more to be had outside of johnnie, but this was my first bottle so I wanted to go with something I knew. I'm looking at this as a jumping off point.

thanks for the suggestions!

anyone else have any imput on watches?
But I'll definitely look into those two.

My automatic is a Tag and it's awesome but that probably doesn't fit into your criteria.

I know it's a little low budget compared to a Tag, but I've always loved the Seikos I've bought. They have lasted incredibly well over the years and I bought my brother and father matching ones in stainless and gold for Christmas this past year and they both loved them.

At one point about 4 or 5 years into ownership one of the chain links on the first one fell apart, so I called up Seiko and they sent me a new one completely free... which I thought was pretty cool! I happened to have both of them next to me so I snapped a pic. The one on the left is the newest, I picked it up last winter after I thought I lost the one on the right. I've had the one on the right since I was a sophomore or junior in high school. The left one is what I wear with business attire, the right one is the one I wear when I go out because it's lighter and more comfortable.

I don't think I paid over $150 for either of them.

I've gotten compliments on both. Definitely check out the Seiko outlet in Leesburg, they have a really decent selection. I'd like to eventually pick up one of their titanium watches. The guys that work there are usually pretty cool too, I got an employee discount after I BS'ed with one of the guys there for a while when we were making fun of this rich guy who came in and bitched about why they didn't have Rolexes in their store haha

I've got an eco-drive citizen, and I really like it.

My only complaint about high end watches is the chronographs. I had an old timex that would record seconds, minutes, and hours up to 24 hours. It was 35 dollars. My citizen will only record 30 minutes. WTF? And I looked high and low for a mid-premium watch with a 24 hour chronograph, and came up way short.

I wonder how jeff likes his fake rolex?

+1, My citizen has a perpetual calendar so it never needs updating or winding, except for DST.

Automatics are pretty thick and eco-drives are a better form factor IMO. If I don't wear my automatic for 2 days, it needs winding and resetting. I could buy a winding case but I already have a watch case and don't want another.

My cellphone has a clock on it......

The band on my fake Rolex broke, although when I pulled it out of my desk drawer 2 minutes ago it was still keeping perfect time.

yeah - i've wanted an eco-drive forever, in HS i wanted the thunderbird or whatever the hell it was called - the one "used by the blue angels" or something, I wanted it mainly because it had a million functions, which i thought was cool for some reason.

i acutally don't want a chronograph, some look good, but I don't like all that crap on my watch face.

anyone have any experince with a used watch, seems like I could pick up a higher end watch for a decent discount

There are probably a million used or stolen watches on CL or Ebay you could find. Do a 10 minute search and I bet you'll find something you want.
