Well, I grabbed an awesome deal on four Koesi K-1's 5x114.3's on ebay. Reconditioned, but guaranteed straight/balanced/good. Fronts are 16x7.5, rears are 16x8.5, basically that's enough to get the car rolling. I'll put inexpensive tires on them until I can determine the need for and/or find larger wheels, and if I do need larger ones I'll sell these. Or use one set as street, one set as track.
So, 5 lugs it is! Recomendations on tire sizes for 7.5 and 8.5" rims? Recomendations on brands/models, fairly cheap, for a new track driver? This car isn't my DD, so sticky is ok. And if it rains I'll just run and hide. Thanks for the help guys!

When you get them have them checked to make sure they are straight. Nothing will be worse than getting to the track only to find you have a hella vibe at 120+ and then eat up your wheel bearnings over some bent wheels. I know more than one person who got used wheels and they were bent to hell.
Hum, 16x8.5 that will be fun to shop for. You can get a V700, V710 in 265/45ZR16 other than that for a cheap, sticky tire, you're on your own . --chad

Thanks man. Maybe not too shabby by 1985 standards. For today though, I couldn't do a thing to the brakes and still have the wheels fit. 205's are the largest tire I could fit on it. Add to that the 4x108 bolt pattern and the limited supply of aftermarket goodies to match, and you can understand why it was time for a change.
Now I can get bigger brakes and some good rubber and not be scared to death that I'm not going to stop and create an awesome show for those sitting on the deck at VIR.

OK,
Which tire do you guys like/have heard good things about? The size is 245/45/16 Yokohoma AVSES100: Yoko's Kumho Supra 712's: Kumho's Both have 280 tredwear, both have AA traction, A temp, both are below $100ea, and both get good reviews. Based on what I've read, I like the Yokohama's. I'm interested to see if anyone here has had experience with either? Edit: When I get two sets of wheels, I'll get some Toyo R-1's or something. Right now, I want something I can track, and still drive home. The car is not my DD, so I will basically only have interstate miles to/from the track. I can't spend much on them either b/c I'm putting so much into the conversion, brakes, and wheels.

I'd go with the ES100s, I've heard better reviews than the 710s. The ES is just a slight bit below the grip of an Azenis, but obviously you don't have that option.
