I still contend that living in Ashburn is why you hated DC

We see what we want to see. There are more people here that have left and say they are better off for it than those who have stayed. It had nothing to do with geographic location and everything to do with everyone appearantly being in competition with one another... including all my coworkers that didn't live in Ashburn. The whole thing just didn't work for me. The most amusing part is you think Ashburn is materially different than Reston.  Big Grin

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

But it's really not.

I spent ~20% of my DC life in Ashburn. Most of it was Fairfax and Alexandria.

As a physical location, sort of, as there's lots of upside here - but its mostly the friends/cycling community I have.

i could argue that the Oregon bike scene is even more pretentious. plus access to PNW trails and brown bears to chase you around for a true FTP test.

either way, i do think happiness is a state of mind achieved by many means; could be a physical location change, could be a death in the family, could be a small moment of self-reflection. i can say that NoVA is a lot better without a commute and when i do go places i'm not sitting in traffic, haha.

It's been decriminalized. Almost there.

When your state is less progressive than Montana and South Dakota. Come on over the west coast everyone, the weed here is great! Also, Oregon just legalized shrooms for mental health treatment. Yay!

I want to live in a state that has recreational weed, allows me to have a pet kanagroo, and went blue this election.

So I guess Jersey, illinois or washington?
