This one has quite the interesting history.. I sure can pick em.

Frankly if it inspects OK, I don't care, but maybe he will knock some $$ off his asking price.

I got the Carfax.. more questions of course

06/19/1995 - miles 46010 - Illinois DMV - Title issued
02/28/1997 - miles 67460 - Virginia DMV - Title or registration issued
09/24/1999 - miles 66010 - New Hampshire DMV - Title issued (#08115533)
11/20/1999 - miles 67590 - Virginia emissions inspection (passed)
06/12/2001 - miles 78700 - Virginia DMV - Title or registration issued
07/08/2002 - miles 106298 - Virginia emissions inspection (passed)

Carfax reports this as "possible odometer fraud" since the miles went down
from 2-28-97 to 9-24-99.

I'm really confused about this sequence of events. The car was in Illinois
in 1995. In February 97 it was titled/registered in VA. In September of
1999 a Title was issued in New Hampshire with less miles than it had in
February of 1997 (so - the car must have been driven backwards for 1400
miles over the course of those 2 years?)

Also - the miles were 67460 on February 28th 1997, but 67513 on November
20th 1999? So over the course of those two years the car - at best - was
only driven 53 miles?

And from 6-12-2001 to 7-8-2002 the car was driven 28 thousand miles?

The mileage is all over the chart.. I am just confused. So if you could
fill in all that you know, I would appreciate it. If I do buy this car, I
might have to sell it someday

i wouldn't buy it if i were you... plain as day, something has happened with the odometer... something that someone tried to cover up i would presume, because there are legal ways to fix odometer issues... on a p-car, if it was a legtimate reason you'd think the owner would get it done right.

The Porsche thing was a joke.. it's another Miata

It already has an SCCA legal rollbar (going to have someone qualified make sure it was installed right), an intake and an exhaust. (I was planning on selling the exhaust)

He was asking 2K - if I can get the car for say 1500 or less, I would have to think about it. If I ever sell it, I'm parting out whatever I put on it, and it won't be worth much anyways with the number of miles it has.

Evan, not unless you are selling yours in the $3K range. It'd be nice to have a hardtop and LSD and all that, but the whole point here is a cheap, reasonably reliable car that I can stuff into a tire wall and not feel terribly bad about.
