Heads up guys, I will be parking near where Jeff Curtis parks usually at Summit (first row closest to the Pits and as close to the classroom as possible). I will be getting electricity and will be setting up friday night so look for my white Denali/trailer and of course my M3. Like to get all the MMers together if we can and will have chairs/stereo/heat/canopy/cooler so come on stop by and sit down.

DJ - save a space for my rig + 1 support vehicle please. If I get there first, I'll do the same for you. It needs to be level as two of us will be sleeping in our (separate) vehicles. Thanks!
(yeah, that means the XR is actually going to be at the track. Will it run? TBD!)

As both of you are technically NASA officials, I can caution-tape-off some space when I arrive (~3pm)

Awesome, that would work really well. Thank you so much! And woot for the XR being at the track. Figure we can have the cars in between our two tow rigs with the canopies, etc as there will hopefully be plenty of space in the paddock due to non-racing. Itll be REALLLY cold so I hope your bringing good cold gear, my comforter and sleeping bag are going to be with me along with 2 large space heaters (yes I overprepare like crazy). The space heaters are the main reason im getting electricity, but itll be nice to have lights, stereo etc.

That's fantastic Jon - thanks a bunch sir. I would LOVE to have a spot that has a little pavement, as I know the XR will need tweaking (or major repairs most likely) as the weekend progresses :-)

Awesome awesome. Thank you DJ for snagging a space and Jon for actually taping it off. I am driving Carrie's car and she, Joe and I will be with Ron Roderick (of Mama Debbie's Seafood fame). So, Carrie's car likely won't be paddocked with you all but I will come hang out.
DJ - will you bring the MM banner? I'll take it back from you after this weekend.
See you all bright & early Saturday!!

I'll basically tape off from the corner by the tech shed up to the bathroom, all across from the end door to the classroom. Stacked from the woods side to the pit road side I envision... Cobetto rig, Jeff Curtis rig, various officials' single cars, then MM. Please un-tape whatever you don't need (toward the bathroom side), although with only ~175 cars coming I doubt space will be a problem.

Jon, thanks very much for that!
I'll be showing up Saturday morning before my tech period (8:30) so I'll look out for everybody.
^ just sent you a gmail about something registration-related but not essential, thanks...

2 years ago at the Nov NASA event, a fellow NASA instructor, Cale Kastanek, had a brake line failure going into T1. He passed away as a result of his injuries. Sunday's touring laps and BBQ will be a charity event to raise money in his honor for the Cale Kastanek Presidential Scholarship at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. You'll notice a large area roped off by the tech shed. Thats where all the S2k's will be on Sunday.

It's awesome that we raised money for the guy's fund. I was wondering about the S2k's.

Raised $1757 for charity. Awesome job!
I will have a full update on my project thread but this was one of the best NASA weekends for my driving yet. Car performed pretty much flawlessly, although I still have to replace my exhaust heatshielding that keeps coming loose. I also went ahead and got suckered into getting my Time Trial license and despite several hangups (summit ran out of gas, got out late, got frazzled), Gil approved me for Time Trials. Went out for my first time trial session on sunday afternoon and despite some traffic grabbed a 1:25.6, not bad but there was plenty of time to improve, ive pretty much decided I absolutely get man-handled by turn 1 and cant seem to get my turn in right. Turn 3 is also still hit or miss wether I get it right but im finally getting some good confidence on turn 4-5 and can almost go full throttle through that entire section, which is where I think im catching people.
Went out the next session and had some fun with the current TTC class leader. Came in a bit early so Jake could borrow my car (his ride ran out of brake pads), lucky, since the lap I came in, the TTC leader that I was going back and forth with lose his lower radiator hose and sprayed the track down pretty good, with me following him I could have had a real bad accident.
Forgot to look at my results but after talking with Scott before I left, I managed to grab a 1:25.0 (pending confirmation on mylaps), grabbing second in my class out of 8 and im a bit down on power and still on street tires. I dont think ill be doing Hoosiers for at least VIR February (if I track then) as I know there is plenty of time I can pick up due to my driving especially in turn 1 and im not competing for tires so no biggie.
The biggest thing was the fun factor, with just a bit of competition and having very experienced people, the Time Trial sessions were RIDICULOUSLY easy and fun in terms of passing and competition. I had a huge blast.
