At least the FC cops are too busy writing tickets for "no left turn between 7-9am" tickets

No way, they would have found it in Istanbul. (Or Constantinople?)

And if you'd just obey the signs posted you wouldn't have a problem.
At the very least, you're not allowed to be bitter.

I obey them when there isnt a cop sitting there
Technically, I dont have to follow them, but I have to go to city hall, fill out an application for a "special permit" and pay some rediculous fee for it....

And? If you'd do it, then you wouldn't have a problem. Get off your butt.
And what do you want them to do about your wallet, launch an investigation?

Its not the permit that pisses me off, its that I have to pay for it.

They stole my shit, so yes. Or at least something more than "sorry, nothin we can do".

Paying is lame. But you could just not use the street when they say no.
But really, what do you want them to do about the wallet you left in your unlocked truck in broad daylight? Call in everybody for questioning? Be a little reaslitic.

Right, its not that far out of my way... its not stupid that you cant turn there, but if you live there you can use it but you have to get a special permit - thats the dumb part.
asteele2 Wrote:But really, what do you want them to do about the wallet you left in your unlocked truck in broad daylight? Call in everybody for questioning? Be a little reaslitic.
Well, I had a pretty good idea of who they worked for and they called 3 or 4 people with the phone - so if they made some phone calls and didnt come up with anything, ok, its not worth getting the FBI involved. But who knows, a little bit of effort could've turned up my wallet which is really what I wanted back. I didnt want to string these guys up in the town square, I just wanted the wallet.
Who pissed in your cheerios?

Just piling on the bandwagon of cops as revenue generators.

And my point was that it's totally inefficient to go on a hunt for a wallet and a phone. You think it got stolen by the garbage men b/c they were nearby and b/c there were funny foreign people using it.. I mean, it's literally not worth the time to go looking.
As for the turning thing. OK, so you've got to pay a fee, probably to cover the processing to make it legit. So? Aren't you the one always talking about paying for convenience?

So at what point is it efficient to look for something? Does it have to be a car? An expensive bicycle? Where do you draw the line, and why? Do you draw the line at a certain value? Grand Larceny? I had some effects in the wallet that were rather sentimental and irreplaceable, and I would've liked to have them back. I dont give a shit about the phone, cash, etc thats just stuff.
asteele2 Wrote:As for the turning thing. OK, so you've got to pay a fee, probably to cover the processing to make it legit.
Why make it a fee? Why not just make the law 'residents only' ? Cop checks your license, sees you live there, and you go on your way. I'd be ok with that.

You're such a prima donna.
I'm not running cost/benefit analysis for the cops, but you've got to be realistic. How about you just not leave your shit in an unlocked truck?
