You'd also be getting a great life experience by living in another country, which may open your mind to trying out other big things. I'd say take the big risk and go for the big reward rather than playing it safe. As for the girlfriend I'd say that you should probably really think long and hard about the pro's and con's of this woman. For my money if you were so sure that she is the one you wouldn't even be asking this question right now so that tells me that you probably have a few doubts. If some of those doubts are the kinds of things that could turn into big trouble in the future then I'd say drop her and go to Kuwait. And don't stay with her because you're afraid you can't find someone as good or better. If you're going to stay with her, stay because you truly want to be with her.

who knows...i bet there are some Bangin' Kuwaiti women. When your g/f gives you shit about being faithful, your response should be that you're not sure if you could be either.

I'm not trying to sound abusive... but you're talking about marriage and she's talking about cheating. I mean, seriously, that's a lot of bull shit. It's well and good that you enjoy spending time with each other but I think you're overstating her role in your life. This seems to be especially true when you hold your status for her in reltaion to her status for you. I've let a lot of opportunities slip away in the past over girls and you know what? i think i just had my period

If Kuwait was a serious solid option that proved to offer good potential work i would seriously consider it. It is a big shift, but without a lease, and having the family to take care of your belongings i would really consider it. Spending time with friends and the little aspects of life are what i miss the most when i travel, but when i went to Germany for 3 weeks straight thanks to work (ie: paid for), it was a blessing and i wouldn't pass up another opportunity like it.
For the girl situation you have to figure it out for yourself. I feel for how you want to stay with the girl and find a local job - it's passionate and it feels good. Don't let passion blind you in your own professional and personal goals. If you can find a good position for growth and your goals and figure out how to stay local and enjoy spending time with her then by all means do it. Pursue what you want to pursue and if she's truely meant for you then it'll work out regardless, but lose focus on yourself and sacrifice yourself for her and women have a tendancy to see that as a weakness in men. Just look out for #1 Feersty, compromise the situation when you're married, not when your dating. It may seem easy for a lot of us to say what we're saying, but some of us are speaking from experience. I don't have a lot of these type of experiences, but I thought about finding another job and pursuing another career for the last girl i was with for a little while (10 months). I gave a lot of my time to her and i enjoyed every minute of it, but in the end what i realized is that i stopped enjoying my hobbies as much and she broke up with me anyway. If i would've switched jobs and changed careers than i probably would've screwed myself professionally, thankfully i didn't. Although i'm still in the process of finding out what the hell i want to do in the long-run anyway, i'm glad i didn't set myself up for rough times. Sometimes it takes making the decision, finding out for yourself of the outcome and learning from it to really sink in though...either way, think about what you really want.

I am going ahead and doing the second interview with the hiring manager. There are 7 or so other candidates. Can't hurt to get an offer. I hope I didn't imply that I had one. All I had was an extremely preliminary interview, which is nothing more than a screening. I am excited and nervous to see what comes to fruition. I am definitely going to give it my best shot though.

I can't remember if you said it, and I'm too tired to read through the first two pages again... but have you told your girl that you're considering marrying her in the future? That might be another important part of the equation, and might make her reconsider where she's coming from. A girl I was hanging out with yesterday mentioned that to me after I asked her what she thought about your situation.

I think me being engaged to her before i leave gives her something to look forward to, and reassures her that the money I make is for us. Just not 100% sure if I should go that way as of now.

I mean you don't necessarily have to get engaged to her now, but her knowing that you're seeing that in the future might give her more hope that she could be faithful to you if you were going to leave.

Don't propose if you think your paycheck will keep her loyal. Don't propose if you doubt her loyality. If you were a chick, I'd think you'd intentionally get pregnant to keep your guy from leaving you.

Yeah.
Rob - DO NOT propose to her just because it secures a future with her. That's a really bad idea, you don't even know if you guys can work in the long term... and I'm sorry, 9 months isn't long term. Case in point - I dated a girl for 3 and a half years. We talked about getting married... I never proposed, not any of that, we just tossed the idea around, and you know what? It would have been the worst decision of our lives. The fact that you're putting this girl on such a pedastal really just kind of indicates that you think you can't do that well again. Girls know that and they won't respect you for it. Do or don't do this for her and you can almost guarantee youself that it won't work.
