Like I said eariler, I'm not going to go back and forth with anyone on this, I've said my peace and if you guys intend on making this place a hard a$$ mod controlled forum you will have one less person to moderate, maybe that's what you want, then you can get the flood of n00bs in each semester and turn this place into JMU Yo Boy central.

Gerald, you can't really have a double standard like that if you want to put forward a face that any new people wouldn't be turned away from (as that seems to be the complaint I keep hearing). Joe Schmoe Freshman doesn't know RJ or I, and therefore wouldn't know when I make some off-hand comment about his mom/sister is just a joke between two friends. If you're going to censor content because you think that it might portray the club in a bad light to potential new members you're going to have to censor all content along those lines.

As has been said in several other threads, there really needs to be a FAQ, and Guidelines setup for the forum, that way anyone who's already here understands what's expected of them, and new people understand what to expect.

Having been the Admin/Owner of a forum for 4 years now I can tell you, without a doubt that NOBODY reads those things. I don't care how much you put them out there make people check boxes, agree to this and that, they don't read them. Hell, I have a welcome PM that gets sent to each new member and popup tells them that they got a PM and it tells them that they can't post a new thread until they make 5 replies yet they STILL ask why they can't post a new thread on their first reply, case in point, HAULINSS, he signed up then bitched here about why he couldn't post a new thread on my forum :!:

Oh I don't care if they read it or not, if it's there I can at least point to it and say "read it n00b" if they take offense to anything that's said that's within the guidelines.

Other than goodspeed's unhealthy affection for pretty late 90's sports cars :lol: I dont think this place ever was, or really ever will be full of turbo riceboys of america - especially as long as we keep pushing the karting, autox, flagging, etc events to new members - everyone that starts taking hits of the crack pipe enjoys it. Its ok to still be a ricer too, I know I am!

- I don't see over-moderation (edits) being an issue. It hasn't been, why would it start?
- Over-administration (bannings) have been abused, but that has hopefully been resolved.
- I felt Evan's joking (in the example cited) was very inflammatory.
- A FAQ would be good. Where to get started, how to have thick skin, etc.
- Rules would not be good. What would we say? "Evan/Kaan/Chad can not be big meanies, Mikey cannot have his own rules, Goodspeed can't post about Supras, .RJ can't buy anything for the next 6 months, don't buy motors from Canada"
