Another thing you learn is that Kaan lives in his own world.
We're a club, not a cult, Kaan. Who the hell cares about the history of some of food product? As long as the current students continue the club in a motorsports (of any kind) direction, I couldn't care less about whether or not they know about widow makers.
Two feet.
if they came to the track, the parties, been where ever the story has been told (any time they have been made!) etc they would even know about widow makers... think outside the box!
if you know that kind of stuff, you know the people, you know what we do... it comes with the teritory!

I'm a new member, and I'm certainly no ricer.
Edit: however, my car was parked 2 spaces down from Andy for 4 hours at an autocross event last weekend and he never introduced himself. However this is equally my fault but I was sort of running late/ fixing my car all day.

OOH! But do you feel oppressed, insulted, and generally made unwelcome by the MM Alumni?

well, I'm sure that last part is a normal day for you, the sleeping with Evan part.
I can't even respond to that it's so ludicrous. You just said it so matter of factly that I thought you were talking about yourself.

BLAIR Wrote:you said it best..money is the real issue overall i would say.. but autox's and other cheaper motorsports activities are a good idea untill we are making money. flagging- watching- wrenching is a very good idea. All of us may not do that as much as we would like but you have to understand. Giving up a weekend at JMU to go to the track all weekend is fun, but i love JMU, the girls, the drinking, partyin with the freinds. I know once Im out of here in less than 2 months I am going to regret every opertunity I missed to party it up here. This is the one time in our lives to live the "college life" and while cars are my number one passion I feel we as students should take full advantage of living here at JMU. Afterall we have the rest of our lives to prosue our automobile hobby when we actually have money
make sence? alittle at least?
blair, i think your post addresses most accurately my main concern when i was still there. i really had a lot of trouble grasping the fact that i was gonna wake up early on a saturday and sunday to not party or play beer pong until 4 am and not meet girls and all that with my friends. i absolutely hated missing weekends at JMU. i loved to get hammered and hang out with chicks and buddies. ask gerald how many parties we had at our place in forest hills.
as i look back on it though, i STILL hang out with my MM buddies that i met by going to autoxes, the track, kart events. i made a lot of friends not in MM partying at jmu, but i dont think i talk to any of them anymore except for maybe 3 or 4 of them after being 5 years removed. dont get me wrong, i still love a good kegger, i still love playing beer pong, but things are different now. i hate to admit it but i'm older. eveyrone else is older. but i think motorsports isnt necessarily a "phase" of our lives. we all love it and i assume will continue to do it for many many years to come.
as far as finances go, i was poor as hell in college. i ran up quite a tab on my credit card for kegs, solo cups, highlawn and late night blimpies. i spent way more on partying than i did on car stuff. going to the track and working helped me earn credits. i was able to do track weekends for free probably until about being 2 yrs removed from college. yeah, i was worried about the maintenance or the possibility of crashing, but shit it was too much fun.
sure its a commitment, but the reason our club exists is because of our passion for motorsports. i'm not saying you cant be friends with people who like cars but dont drive them. i just think that MM might not be the right place for people who spend more money on car wax and custom paint jobs than they do on brakes, tires and oil.
and i'm not singling you out blair because i know you autox and drift your car. hell i really wanna come out to one of your drift events. if my miata had more power, i'd probably try to get out there myself (hmmmm, supercharger anyone?) but i'm responding to you because i think you get what the main concern is because it was definitely my main concern when i was there.
as far as horses go, yeah they're really fucking expensive. but they make excellent glue and tasty dog food.

We're not dating. I had no idea who you are so how am I suppose to introduce myself? I drove 3.5 hours to support current student participation in motorsports. I assume you're the one that used my paint tape and I assume you're the one that I gave zipties for your MAF so let's not keep count.

i know. i hate you kaan.
the chick that bought my hardtop yesterday was fairly attractive. she drove an M edition miata with a jackson racing supercharger on it, talked about how much she liked that miata that she ended up buying a 2nd one which her mom crashed and then her mom liked it so her mom bought an '06 miata. that made her a lot more hot in my opinion. sigh.....
