I don't tip the gas people. I also hate jug handles. No offense, Midas, but New Jersey is like a completely different country.

I love coming home to Virginia, where I can turn left across traffic and spill my own fuel.

i hate cleaning up after idiots who stand and watch gas come out of their car (I've seen video of people literally stand in awe for several seconds, as well as watched from inside as gas poured on the ground b/c the customer was inside the car/store), but I don't think I could live somewhere where somebody had to hold my hand to pump my gas. Last time I was in Jersey, I thought the guy was going to deck me for trying to pump my gas b/c I had forgotten.

I guess it all depends on what you like. I grew up in VA I think its a beautiful state. New Jersey does not even come close to competing with VA.

Its all about convenience for me.

Alot of the gas that is distributed throughout the NE is trucked out of NJ. We have great gas prices and people pump the gas for us (no i don't tip). Right now regular is $1.97/gal whats full service in VA?

Also, NJ is a major trade port. So if you have a business in NJ almost everything you need is right here. Same day shipping for almost anything. If I order a container of goods from overseas it can be shipped right into a NJ port.

You just need to get off the NJ Tpke for once and see how normal the rest of Jersey is. I also hate the roads here. Left hand turns, jug handles etc. But its all give and take.

If you want out doors the Appalachian Trail runs right through NJ. Theres ski resorts, beachs, casinos and even NYC all within one hours drive.

Fedex/UPS isnt on a delay to Va, anything I've ever ordered from across the pond has been here in a week. Baltmore is a pretty big port too.

Same with NoVa...... no different. And NJ beaches are nothing to write home about.

How are your taxes? schools? insurance costs? drivers on the turnpike are the worst I've ever encountered. My grandparents live in Northern Jersey so I've spent quite a bit of time there.

I'm talking about paying for ground service not overnite. And you obvioulsly have never ordered a container load of something because they come by boat and take about 4-6 weeks.

I wouldn't say VA beaches are that great. Have you seen Cape May and South Jersey beaches. They are definitely better than Va. Beach.

I'm pretty sure they are equivalent to NOVA on all of the above.

By the way where do you live .RJ?

No, I've never ordered a container of anything. Never had a need to. Answers a question I didnt ask Smile I get next day for a lot of things via UPS on standard ground service if its close enough.

Taxes (especially property) and Insurances costs are much higher than in NoVa.

Va has no car tax anymore and is sitting on a $1+ billion tax surplus.

I live in Tysons Corner/Vienna. I grew up around here, but spent time in Atlanta and New England also.

I guess everything is all relative. As long as we are both happy - it doesn't really matter.

I like to pump my own gas. Last two times I've gone through Jersey I've done just that - the gas boys don't seem to like to come near motorcycles.

So go pet a baby seal. I'm going to take the same seal, when you're done, and put him in my gas tank ALL BY MYSELF!

Nobody's going to pump the seal for me!
When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.

I agree and if I pull in a gas station where they won't let me pump it myself I just go somewhere down the street to a station that will.

I wouldnt really call this full service. There are some small town gas stations that you can go to in NJ where they will still wash your windows and check your oil while they are pumping your gas. But these are far and few between.

I am glad I don't live in New Jersey or Oregon. I can pump my gas just fine, thank you.
