I'm not so sure of this. Mine being a targa, nobody had any problem with me going out on track. I can't see how a T-top would be required to have a roll bar, since technically a T top would be stiffer and tend to provide more protection than something that can be taken completely out (targa top).

I did see that, but I don't have the an expendable $3600 yet. I could do it now but I want to wait until I have more spare cash on hand. And if I wait until after I turn 25 (November) hopefully insurance won't hurt.

MR2 is considerably heavier than a miata. an underpowered rwd roadster really needs to be lightweight. I have instructed 2 weekends in a MR2 and its a very fun car, but you definately feel its weight.

Based on comments from my students, brakes are questionable on the MR2.
Not to mention a miata is more practical (never thought i would say that...)
more storage. with a mr2 you really would need a trailer hitch and a small trailer if you plan on tracking it.

Hrm, 2300 lbs for a 94 Miata vs 2600 for a 91 MR2. You might have something there Mostly I figure, it's not that fast, less rope to hang myself with. But then again neither of em are that fast. I have to look into the rollbar thing, but if I'm stuck with it either way, I'm stuck with it. I don't want a hardtop, as part of the appeal of either of these is the open roof on nice days.

I'm holding off for a while anyway. I already have 31K miles on the WRX tho

If you buy a Miata have piper build you a rollbar - you'll spend less than if you bought a Hard Dog and then sent it to him for installation.

I love toyotas......I LOVE THEM. But 2 of my close friends have NA mr2s and i must say id go with the miata definitely, no questions asked. In every aspect of driving (acceleration, braking, handling) my POS 105 crank horses celica will put both mr2s to shame,

I don't understand how your car which has less HP, more weight and front wheel drive puts the MR2 to shame? Is it your Teminator body kit?

The only manual I see listed is the Alltrac. Unless you have an "ST Sport Coupe" your car is heavier than an MR2. So what you're saying now is, you have better tires than all the MR2 drivers you know, therefore the MR2 sucks?

why yes, i do have the st sport coupe and the curb weight is around 2400, if i had the GT model it would have the exactly same engine as the NA mr2. Anywho my whole point was that id take a miata over the na mr2. The 5s-fe engine has virtually no aftermarket so i'd steer clear unless you just want a car thats gonna last forever. The miata will get better gas mileage too if you're worried about that sort of thing
