Project POS 24T

Dave Wrote:quick update. The fuzions that I had are roasted (I hydroplane regularly at street speeds) so I bought some cheapy Sumitumos for Summit.. Also replaced the blown rear shock, so it will actually handle like a normal car hopefully. Linds is driving it in HPDE 1 at the Hizzy Fizzy, and then it will be slowly overhauled towards being more of a SRX cup car than a street-track car. Dropped it off this week for a rollbar install. Hopefully getting some harnesses and coils soon, and have bigger sway bars sitting in the garage (was hoping to install before Summit, but don't want to install them without any time for Linds to get used to them)

coincidence?

you're awesome, that's definitely a keeper for later. And thanks for the compliment, although I hope I don't look that geeky.

well, this hasn't been updated in a while, so here's whats new:
1) end of august, I replaced the front bumper with a "pignose" bumper from a 90 240 that I got at a junkyard. It's uglier, but the bumper cover, foam insert, and metal bumper total cost me ~$80, so I'll deal.
2) beginning of October, I did the first actual tune-up since I've owned it. Replaced plugs, wires, distributor cap, and distributor rotor with Nissan or OEM equivalent stuff. Didn't really feel any faster than it was.
3) tracked at last NASA event at Summit. This car has never felt so good. Maybe the tune-up helped, or maybe the car and I were in-synch that weekend, but it drove flawlessly and actually felt FAST :gasp:.

Not really sure where this car is headed just yet, but I love it. So far, it has 1,386 miles on the track, and has been pretty much trouble free in all aspects. I'll put up some pics before too long.

That is awesome Dave. Is w2w racing a goal of yours or just instructing?

frankly, I'm planning on running in Time Trials next year and possibly instructing. However, I'm really looking into running in the SE-R Cup, whether it be in an SRX car or an ITA prepped car, potentially by end of the year.

it should be noted that with the purchase of the 240Z, my plans have changed a bit for this car. It has been sold to Lindsey and will serve as her HPDE trackslut from now on. I will probably occaisionally take it out and have some fun with it, but it will be almost exclusively hers. I will however be continuing the maintenance and upgrades on it, which means this thread is not dead, just evolving. The car is still going to be moving towards ITA prep, and potentially SRX depending on how fast Linds wants to go, as she moves through the HPDE ranks.

changed the tranny fluid, replaced the thermostat, changed the oil, and finally replaced my washer resevoir (bought it at a junkyard like 6 months ago :-) ). This is definitely the easiest car I've ever worked on, I hope the Z is this easy Big Grin.
