interesting. Some are complaining that their hybrids aren't getting anywhere near the mileage they should. I haven't looked into it yet-- I'd say they were morons if it weren't for Consumer Reports agreeing with them... :|
"In Consumer Reports' real-world driving test, the Civic Hybrid averaged 26 mpg in the city, while the Toyota Prius averaged 35 mpg, much less than their respective EPA estimates of 47 and 60 mpg. Hybrid cars performed much closer to EPA estimates in Consumer Reports' highway tests." http://www.wired.com/news/autotech/0,2554,63413,00.html

You have to realize that city scenarios are BEST CASE. Very little stop and go I believe. Unles they are mandated to do a certain scenario.

I couldn't get the damn Prius to drop under 40MPG for very long. I'm just surprised 30's are even possible.

has anyone seen the retrofit kits for deisel engines that allow you to run used vegetable oil? you need a better fuel pump or something of that nature, then find a place that wants to get rid of old vegetable/cooking oil. dump the stuff in after its been able to cure for a week or two, and you can run a diesel on the stuff. it actually lubricates the engine better as a bonus, and the exhaust is just condensation.
