I might register this week.

I might also push the thing off jackstands, down the driveway, close the garage door and start drinking heavily instead.

Oh who gives a crap if only 3 people register in your class. You'll still get Toyo bucks!!! (that you can give to me if you want, hehe ). You'll have fun on track and there will be somebody to race w/, even if they aren't in your class.

There's supposedly more than 3 cars showing up in H4, so its $400 per win Wink

For ECHC, for this year, yes.... almost everyone is on Kumho b/c the contingency package is so good, so they got us another year without the spec nonsense.

For nationals, and next year, its spec toyo. I'll be buying "ITA" decals Wink

Sad I didn't see that class listed on the NASA website.

What kind of entry numbers does PT show?

Let me help you - www.scca.org Wink

I think i've only seen a handful of them out all year, at least in the stinger group.

Assuming I can get in on whatever "not spec" tires i'm on i'd like to run shenandoah and hyperfizzle w/ NASA next year, maybe do 2 marrs races, and a scca enduro at VIR.

lol...you mean the "cash" that you still havent gotten from 2 months ago and counting?

you guys are such drama queens about the spec tire.

im willing to bet anything that you get as good a toyo contingency next year if not better which can easily pay your tire bill if you dont suck.

Its not a hard decision to make. Cash pays for tires, gas, hookers, hotels.... Toyo bucks are great and its good to see more companies stepping up to do contingency for club racing - but the Kumho deal is just a better one for us.

What does SCCA offer for payouts? You going to have to shell out big $$$ for an SCCA license off the bat.

The Kumho and Hankook deals for SCCA arent quite as good as nasa, but they are still better than Toyo.

Why? Wont cost me any more than my nasa license did.

How do you figure that? I thought you had to take their SCCA license school class whatever, and it was almost $1k.

$300 a weekend easily pays for your Toyos, even if you shave them way down.

Sure, its a pretty good deal, but you are all still waiting for the cash. How long does it take them to pay out? Ive got my toyo cert after 2-3 weeks. And you havent had enough entries to actually make it into the top tier anyway. And you are going to use the money for tires anyway, so getting taxed on your winnings sucks. Kuhmo sends you a w2 at the end of the year.

Im not denying you guys got a good deal going with kuhmo, but its not perfect, and you guys are still blowing the whole thing out of proportion and making yourselves sound like extremely spoiled bratty children. Thats really all I am saying. There is no gaurantee that you would have had kuhmo money next year anyway, they are paying out the equivalent of 2 national SCCA races for every local NASA event. Id be surprised if that would have continued, but i guess we will never know.
Fact of the matter is, the toyo deal is a good one and you can pay for all your tires that way. I cant ask for anything more in small pond nasa racing, and i sure as shit arent going to whine about it

nah, they are about the same cost wise. nasa may be more expensive with a ton of fees, but scca i think has that too
scca double schoool at roebling is ~$300, and IIRC each WDCR school is about $350
nasa's one day school is a ripoff at $350

What are you smoking?

The DC region two day school is $300-325... and the Roebling road three day isnt much more.

Then why do other schools cost so much more??

I hear ya.

The toyo deal is still a good one, but with the HC entreis we're seeing I'd have a hard time getting enough contingency to pay for a pair of tires by the end of the season. The lack of participation with many of the classes to get good contingency, the lack of sizing for the H5 cars, as well as the lack of avialability at times doesnt exactly make everyone reach for the kool-aid in the toyo glass.

For right now, for what I'm doing, the Kumho contingency is just a better deal and the majority of the HC grid is on V710's. And if I am going to run a few ITA races next year, I just dont think I'll be competitive on Toyos, so I will either stick with Kumho or switch to the Hankook Z214's.

And I did get my Kumho $$ this week... cash money Smile

Because people will pay for them I guess?

I've never even heard of those guys. A lot of those schools offer less practice racing than the one day nasa supercomp school......

I'd love to do a barber/bondurant/etc school, but I dont have $3k of disposable $$ to drop on that sort of thing. I'd rather build a 155whp engine instead.
