STi guys - save me 11 million searches on NASOIC

Finding a completely stock car is a pain in the ass.

Don't be overly concerned with what has been stated on this thread, just keep it in mind to help avoid problems down the road. There are plenty of pretty much stock STis floating around to be nabbed up, for some reason they come in waves. Also you could consider any Stage 2 STi (Turboback + EM) because they are normally safely tuned and pretty solid cars. You could always pull a Lee and buy a ridiculously built STi and call it a day... sort of. Just get to know the owner and check the condition of the car. I'll keep my eye out on the forums for any local ones that might show up. Are you looking more for a 2004 or 2005, what price range? Don't get a 2006, they are FUGLY.

Trying to keep it below $25k if I can, and the mileage around 20k. And NOT BLUE. And yeah other than the fact that '06's are hideous (and above $25k), I don't care about year.

Guy isn't sure he wants to sell, but I'm trying to arrange a time to check out an '04 with 22k up in PA this weekend (going up to NJ for the holiday). One owner, Cobb AP for only the past couple weeks. Ironically, he's only considering selling to pay off is '06 s2k.

Haha, if by calling it a day you mean rebuilding your engine.... do it! =p

I also agree that the 06's are ugly as sin. 05 and below is the way to go. I'll keep my eyes open for any deals as well... you CAN find totally stock examples of these cars, especially ones owned by older adults. You just have to search a little harder. 04s are now coming down to that price range you're looking for too.

White and black are hard to beat... especially the '04 black with the gold flake in it... so nice. The crystal grey metallic has been growing on me lately too but its a pretty popular color.

Yeah I saw that black at a dealer and holy shit, it's hot. As long as I don't get blue, I'll be a happy camper.

Too bad in '06 white is one of the most produced colors...

Kind of takes the rarity out of the older ones. I know white was the last color to leave the factory... can't remember what the produced number was, but it was pretty low in comparison to the rest. How would one look that up anyhow? I remember seeing it somewhere.

Yeah that sucks. Especially since the 2006 is so ugly. If I had to repaint my car for any reason, I'd hit it with the BMW crystal gray (not sure what the technical name of it is). Basically the grey color that the m3 comes in. How hot would that be.

The only thing I like about the '06 is the Steel Grey / Gold combination... Thats a pretty badass color.

Lee. It doesn't matter what color paint you put on that car... its all going to come off everytime you go WOT with that beast.

What sucks though is that spoiler noticeably hinders your visibility through the rear windshield. Which, if you've ever driven an STI, is already hindered by teh wInG.

I dun like it =/

LoL. I think visibility was left on the backburner when they decided to include the 4 inch hoodscoop and the top of the back wing directly in the line of sight. I still love it nonetheless.

I would probably get that top spoiler if I didn't have to drill into the car to install it. :? Not to mention its rather expensive.

That is a more clossal waste of money than getting a tune with just an intake added on. In fact, it's probably more expensive than getting said tune.

Bill, you mention you're worried about S2000 depreciation since it's a vert, but have you considered insurance costs? While I do like STis, they are probably one of the most expensive cars to insure on the road. Having priced S2000s and STis, the Subie was about 50% more per year... once I got my quote, that was the end of any further thoughts of procuring a STi.

To be honest, the '06 STI look is growing on me. In pictures it's really ugly, but in reality it looks pretty agressive. Those lights help out a lot I think, and the interior materials are improved.

Uhhh, here's a question I have always pondered...Why is it that nobody from MM has an Evo????? Maybe someone here does, but I have yet to see one.
