Crew cab, in "Ford Terms" is four full size doors. Just so we're talking the same thing. An educated guess is that it adds between 800-1200.

alas, I am stricken with an extreme form of car ADD. I have owned 8 cars in the past 7 years. Only two of them stayed in my possession longer than 18 months. Those two were my first two cars (1990 eclipse 1.8L and the 93 supra). Since April 04 I've bought 5 cars. Therefore, in the next few years I intend on continuing this trend and owning the following:

Corrado
VTEC prelude
SRT-4
Hardtop mkIV supra
C5 Z06
mkII MR2
STi or EVO
older 911
I'll probably also be buying a Tundra or one of the new Tacomas as well to serve as trailer duty.

OK, if we all want to debate trucks, I'll chime in since I drove 6 full-size ones last year. I have listed them in preferential order with pros and cons of each:

1) Nissan Titan:
Pros: gobs of power and towing capability, handled well, fun to drive, looks mean, great chassis
Cons: front brake issues for 04 models, interior material not desirable

2) Ford F150 (5.6L IIRC)
Pros: solid chassis, fit and finish suprisingly impressive
Cons: sluggish tranny, resale value, Ford reliability

3) Dodge Ram 1500
Pros: decent power, good tranny
Cons: towing capacity, interior was blah

4) Toyota Tundra
Pros: reliabililty, drives well, resale value, comfortable, fuel economy
Cons: power, towing capacity, boring as hell to drive

5) Chevy Silverado 2500
Pros: turbo diesel, need I say more? responsive tranny
Cons: resale value, price, chassis is 5-6 years behind everyone else, reliability, interior quality

6) Chevy Silverado 1500 (5.7L)
Pros: responsive tranny
Cons: resale value, price, chassis is 5-6 years behind everyone else, reliability, interior quality

The Nissan is a pretty good Truck. They sorta waited until they knew what Ford was doing with their new truck, and basically 1-upped it just a little in all the major areas (A wise move). It can haul 100 more pounds (but the Ford's payload is 300# more), it has 10 more HP, 30 more lb/ft (Although 80% of the torque on the F150 is available at 1000RPM), 1-2 more gallons gas capacity, pretty interesting really. Nissan did a good job wtih their first full size truck.

Of course this is my opinion, but the Ford is more "truck" than any of them. For example, it's radiator is just about twice as large, it has a fully boxed frame with Xmembers that go through both sides. The oil filter is over twice as big (FWIW). The Tranny might be a little slower, but it's bullet proof, as is the rear end. The front clip is fully boxed and welded as part of the frame.

I'm a Ford fan, so my arguments are going to be biased. But I think Ford really does have the best truck out there. My 2001 F-150 has 89k miles, 70k of which were put on my me, and it is still super tight and with 0 problems. That's with thousands of miles of towing cars, offroading, and driving it super hard to the point of brake fade over Rt.33 several times a year. When comparing these new vehicles, be sure to compaire apples with apples, not an '89 pickup and it's reliablity to an '06.

Turbo Diesels are the win. My cousin in law got a Power Stroke for his F250, it is like a don't quote me on this $5,xxx option.

If I were buying a new truck, I'd definitely go look at the Titan and the F-150s. However, with the lease deal on the Tundras, thats the way to go at the moment...
