Alright guys it looks like i'm gonna be making a trip home this weekend...so if you guys (Jeff and Rex) know for sure that you have space to store one of the motors I will pick them up while i'm down there and bring them both (hopefully I can fit both of them in the bed of my truck) back here to the 'burg. Just let me know, can't wait to start the build up Big Grin

oh boy, time to talk with dad and see if i can convince him to let me store one motor in his garage, Rex is it possible for you to still store one of the motors?

Just so you guys know, I am going home this weekend and are bringing back one of the 350 motors...Rex has graciously allowed the use of his garage for temporary storage and the other I will either get at a later date or leave it at my dad's until it can be moved up here (Jeff let me know).

Rex I will give you a call on Sunday to let you know when I should be back up this way and to get directions to your place.

ok guys, got one of the 305's in the back of my truck...Rex is their anytime tmw that i could bring it to you. dont think that i am gonna have time today, to much work to do. Just let me know.

All I brought with me was the block, heads, crankshaft, and the oil pan, the rest I left at my dads (get that on the next trip home), but it all looks good Big Grin

umm..new to the group..so I just got around to reading this thread..but yeah...if they are 010 stamped blocks..thats the good 350's..I just got done building the one that's in my SS..cant believe ya scored two complete's for free..how many miles on the blocks? they will probably need to be rebored and honed, and the crank line honed

And "not complete" just means "room for lots of go-fast goodies."

What do you think about taking to Dale Engineering, CarQuest, and some of the other Machine shops and having them sponcer the build so we could get the boring/honing/lignboring/crank balancing done for free?

Then talk to Jegs/Summit/Eddlebrock/etc to get the goodies we need.

Then, we find a cool car in a J/Y, drag it through town with a truck (no trailer, for effect, sparks flying) and get JMU to allow a very organized and effective MM club to builid it up somewhere, we can then take it to events specific to what the car is built to do (show, drag, HPDE, etc).

yeah yeah, I know, insurance, logistics, whatever, don't give me that crap. Those are details that can be worked out. If you want the club to be big you must think even bigger.

Or if you don't like the previous idea, talk to Spike TV or Speedvision and get them to sponcer MM (JMU) on one of their builds. All the willing/responsible MM members that want to participate can, and we aid the pros in the job. Then, we'd get national exposure and become the coolest college car club overnight. It'd be HARD for JMU to argue with that.

i justed realized that i said 305, dont know why i did that, but both the blocks are 350's :oops: ...

Well, if these engines are indeed going in a challenge car (and I'm all for it) then we can get Dale/Carquest/Jimbob's-downhome machine shop/whatever to work them for free.

HOWEVER. We have to count the cost of the machine work into our budget, even if we got it for free. Otherwise, you'd see C6 'vettes at the $2006 challenge.
