I don't perceive there to be much demand for mid-market. The people in that space are probably buying watches or wearing only 1-2 watches. Now if you could find a way to reduce the cost of leasing the $1500+ market, I'd be all for that.

Well, its all relative to your income. That's the price point it makes sense for you, others may be lower. And, even if you have no problem buying the $200-500 watch, I would think the market is really to try a few out before committing and dealing with the hassle of resale & depreciation.
I could be spouting off out of my ass, as usual.

I would think there would be at a better price point, like $50-$75 per month that could get you into the mid level market (Oris, lower Tags, Grand Seiko, lower Breitlings, lower Omegas etc.)
That's what I'm getting at. Would you pay for a service like that? What would it be worth to you to wear a new/different watch for a month or two, a few times a year? For me I guess it would as long as they were closer to the $1k range, especially if there was the option to buy (ie if I like it I can keep it at a discounted price). I'd rather pay $50-$75/mo for that than for a TV subscription that I hardly ever watch. I don't know if there are a lot of people "like me" in that regard though
I'm kind of with Chris though, if you could make the luxury watch trial process more affordable that would be much more preferable. I have a pretty healthy collection of mid range watches at this point but if you could try out a few luxury watches a year for less than the Eleven James model it would make it more appealing.

Now if you could find a way to reduce the cost of leasing the $1500+ market, I'd be all for that. I think that's the key. There's not really a barrier to entry in that price point. Ie if someone really wants a "nice" low-mid end watch they pretty much just save up and buy it. You would have to really emphasize the "trial" process as being the selling point and not the financing part being a big value (I still have this gut feeling that second buyer - the one who feels the need to finance a big ticket watch - is who Eleven James is counting on to be their bread and butter).
I mean I guess people finance phones nowadays so it's not that far fetched but yeah I'd think the flexibility of wearing whatever watch you want and walking away from it if you get bored / don't like it would be the key thing to focus on

Although not sure how he's getting away with people spending $1k+ donations to get a watch with a mineral crystal and a japanese movement
Edit: Nevermind that's HK dollars, which is only like $150...not a bad deal then at all! I'd do that build your own and personalize it with something like STARLORD to be an ass

I want that while dial, blue hand model. $170 to custom design your own? Seems like a decent deal.

I am seriously considering pulling the trigger. I said I'd never do another Kickstarter, but I just can't stay away....

I wouldn't blame you if you do

I went back to pick one up, but then the comments and had Kickstarter flashbacks. Some of those guys are intense - not sure they expected the fervor these watch enthusiasts have. The whole thing kinda turns me off... but damn if that watch isn't sexy.

That is a super sexy watch. I customized one and boy howdy.
Still, I'll wait until the webstore works right. I've got no issue waiting 6 weeks or whatever to get a custom watch from HK but kickstarters make me nervous.

I may or may not have ordered an amount greater than or equal to one.
I said I'd never do another Kickstarter where I didn't personally know the people... I'm so ashamed.

Let the panty dropping commence. Also got a plain black band. They accepted the discount in store really no questions asked (like didn't even ask for any info). No sales tax here too. Feeling like a bandit.

What's the case size on that sumbitch?
I just got this in the mail. Well, technically I hounded the mail lady into handing it to me before she put it in the mailbox.
41mm case, automatic movement, water resistant to 50m. Definitely a much more casual style than my current watches with the military face, but it's growing on me. He sent me a couple extra straps too, but I'll probably only use the black.
