Pickup Thoughts

I voted Chevy, Don't get me wrong, I love my little yota. But in terms of bigger trucks, I'm a chevy/gmc guy. I've seen those frame stiffness videos of the tundra and they scare the shit out of me. I've never been a fan of ford or dodge, although driven both. The dodge in my opinion lacks in the interior a lot. Plastic everywhere, cheap, just kind of...ehh. The ford has a great interior, but i can't get over my exploder actually catching fire on me and having a seriously effed up wiring system. I've driven a bunch of the silverados with enterprise and they are awesome. Super comfortable, reliable, and a really clean, albeit relatively plain interior.

Mine actually did that ('01) and it was a huge PITA to fix... partially because it was 19 degrees outside! Fortunately, Ford corrected this on 2003+ engines.

BTW, don't get the 4.6L engine if you go the F150 route. It's just not made for a truck in terms of power and torque. I swapped mine to a 5.4 and get better mileage, way better towing, and I can smoke the back tires :-).

Well my dad's chevy silverado gets 24 mpg on the highway when he isnt pulling anything and stuff and it drives really well for a truck. I hate that steering and the jimmys and maybe other cars from around that year are, its like you have to constantly move the wheel to be straight, really weird. I think the japs are getting better at making trucks though.

Fixed that for ya.

Now, Lets put some real weight back there, like say a 15k lb trailer and then you'll be smoking....

There's a huge difference between a Toyota Truck from when they built nice trucks to a Tundra. If you want a truck to use like a man should/would use a truck, you're going to have to go the Ford, GM, or Dodge way.

If you're looking for a truck to haul the trash once a week, go with Toyota. I don't feel that they are much more reliable than anything that the American companies make though.

Plus there is that whole frame wasn't dipped in anti-corrosion long enough and so it rusts to pieces recall thing on Tundras, but I won't go into that
