"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
this morning in vienna... thats 22.5"
and here is yesterday in arlington while at work 630am-630pm in the afternoon during the heavy snow (lee hwy)
on another note, I've been driving my dads 07 suburban for the past 2 days and I used it to drop off co workers yesterday in falls church during the heavy snow. I have to say I really want a truck now. It was a hoss in the snow, but I think the next time I will be needing it is in another 10 years when we have our next blizzard.

Where do you work? Thats right next to where G and I live.
When I got back from attempting to ride my bike in the snow the visibility was awful - maybe 20 feet.

measured 15.5" @ 4pm yesterday on the biggest flat area I had...my trailer. Was way deeper in other areas do to drifts.
Kept snowing until 11pm or so, so I classify it as "a f-ing lot"
and yeah, anne's "snow dog" hates the snow :p (well, when its over his head anyway!)
You should take the dog outside and throw it into a big snowdrift.

It was hilarious watching him dissapear then come 'swimming' up through the snow
I guess the official tally here was 18.
Spent 2 hours cleaning the driveway and 20 minutes throwing snow back on it so the kids could sled. It was pretty cool, they would hit the bank and start spinning.
Then built an igloo
Random pic of deep snow on trees.

I have a little bit of a rub near lock but if you are turned to lock on a track there are other problems already...

we'll be coming up 85 -> 77 -> 81 to roanoke tommorow in the X. seems like 81 is just damp, yes? i'm mostly worried about Fancy Gap and Christiansburg mountain.
i've been checking 511virginia.org for reference.

Good call I'm leaving tomorrow along that route as well. I'd imagine they should have everything cleared off by then, but who knows with VDOT

I think all major roads are clear around here. Apparently the parking lot that was 81 has been cleared out. Jess was on it this morning from here to Christiansburg with no issue, despite the fact that a lot of secondary roads haven't been cleared and getting to/from our house is still a challenge with one wheel drive. Everything was re-frozen this morning, so I'd plan on getting here not too late and before everything re-freezes at night.
On an unrelated note, someone shot our office building over the weekend. :dunno: We're just off 581, on the other side of the airport, I guess someone fired from the highway at the sea of glass that is the front of our offices, bullet got stopped by a package of boxes in our materials/shipping department. Cops said it looked like a 45. It wasn't me! :evileye:

How is it that I live in the boonies and the roads are fine, but I get to Charlottesville city limits and they turn to total shit. Even the interstate went from two perfectly cleared lanes down to one lane...
And seriously, who abandons a car in an intersection???

lol, I know everyone says "[the city I live in] has the worst drivers in the world" but I stand by my statement that Charlottesville truly has the worst drivers in the world.
