Those big plastic covers crack me up. I can just imagine some half-wit popping his hood to check washer fluid, saying "good heavens, whatever shall we do!?" then promptly taking it to the dealer to pay out the ass, which is the whole point.
Don't new BMW's have an under-tray blocking the oil filter/drain plug with like 36 bolts to undo?

While almost there, that engine is lacking the 2 turbos necessary for a truely clean engine bay. I'll just repost another image you posted up
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

^^My wifes 90 something Passat was like that. Pissed me off. I understand that very little concern for service is considered in design but we are talking about oil changes, the most routine of maintenance, not repair service.
And an example of being able to see the metal from the world of reality.Old bulky emission equipment and all....
Even the LS just needs a new bracket to relocate the coils and some paint: (maybe I should tackle the LS swap...)

I've found that the most popular thing for automotive engineers to do is design a nice under cover or a skid plate with a knockout or a small panel for the drainplug....but put the oil filter under it somewhere else, so you still have to take the plate down
