No, because that would be mentioning something that is false. Your car would be faster; certainly nothing to raise a stink about.

i think cross drilled and slotted rotors were originally designed to dissipate gasses that got trapped between pads and rotors when pads still had asbestos in them as a binder. seeing as how they no longer contain asbestos, the cross drills/slots are useless and are just an area where stress is concentrated and can crack as stated before.

This is what happened to me the first and only time I tried slotted rotors.
These are $200 DBA racing rotors after less than 2 weekends on the track.

Yes, bigger heatsink.

ok, so bigger, thicker rotors act as a bigger heatsink....

heatsink ==> dissapates heat, but not cross drilled or slotted will do this, only wider/bigger/thicker rotors will do this

am i understanding this correctly?

pretty much. drilling or slotting is removing mass from the rotor. less mass = less heat sink

drilling may help some air circulate but its minor compared to the negative offsets of less heat capacity and reduced structural integrity. good ducting or venting will more than make up for it. as i understand it slotting is more for removing dust or grit from the rotor, which is why you will see it alot on rally cars that are always rollin around in that crap.

it is all about surface area. more surface area = more space for the heat to dissipate. when you drill holes in the rotor you're reducing the surface area.

No its not. Mass is what gives you more thermal capacity.

capacity, yes. but without surface area that heat has nowhere to go.

Thats what the vanes on the inside of the rotor are for.

Cant make it heavier without making it bigger anyways, unless you change the material.
