20 miles from home after an 800 mile round trip to VA for xmas and the explorer's tranny shit the bed. amazingly we managed to limp it home on some side roads. it's not even 5000 miles after the rebuild this april, but thank God we got a warranty to show the shop.
the shop i took the audi to doesn't open 'til the 2nd since its family owned, and they haven't made any progress due to being slammed with customers. so....hertz here i come!
anyway i have AAA...do you guys know of any better rental car deals than hertz? i'm just going with them because AAA provides pretty solid discounts on their fees. i'll need the rental for a few days at least, since the explorer will need it's tranny gutted and rebuilt again.

Wow, Scotty. This is not your time, is it? Sorry about your luck, frly
Hertz really dicked me over on a rental car last time I needed one. Enterprise pulled through on a moment's notice, but I can't recall who offered better rates. IIRC, RJ has always used Hertz, though, because they've been good all around for him.
When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.

thanks man...i did some more research, and went with your recommendation and i found out i would actually pay less going with enterprise than with hertz w/my AAA discount so i'm going to use them...plus they can pick me up.
i'll give you my candid review on the beast that is the automatic dodge neon they're gonna give me.

I always use Avis for renting. They have a book 2 inches thick of all the discounts they offer - just tell them everything you have and you can stack discounts

sorry to hear it scotty, i know we got a bunch of i think hertz coupons in the nasa membership packet. i think for the most part these rental car places are all the same but it depends on what kind of cars they offer.

thanks for all the help guys. i think the explorer had its feelings hurt for being the benchwarmer this past year and decided to get back at me.
i will definitely keep the hertz stuff in mind. i have an enterprise focus right now that i'll have til saturday....if i still need a car after that, i'll look into hertz if i can.
