Apparently the driver is some sort of swedish mafia guy who was street racing a McLaren SLR. This should be a Simpson's episode.

yeah i was a bit shocked at the number too... only thing useable might be engine internals? some of the interior? perhaps that is the actual cost to build one and they just marked them up for sale? they'd rather see it back on the road at cost than in a junkyard? i dunno.
