6k in repairs WOW hahaha that sucks. when my car was a 2L i drove it 100k miles (beating the hell out of it) with no real problems at all. and now thats its a VR i have put another 25K on it with no more problems

the whole deal here is not doing work yourself and getting raped by a shop or dealer. I do all my own work, get my own parts etc etc. 6k seems rediculous. as far as i see it you are getting taken by a shop that knows you are going to pay

for example when you said your shock blew and you got all new ones from the dealer and installed for a price that you could have gotten bad ass coilovers installed at the same price.. thats where all the money is running to.

I cant believe you dropped 6k into a car that probably isnt even worth that. with that much repairs you have had to have fixed every damn thing on the car by now.. so.. your good now

sucks about your bad luck. any car car be a bitch and expensive especially when you pay for labor etc etc

you best bet is to buy a stock honda civic or toyora camery

part of what has been "fixed" was done and then I was told. DEclipse mentioned that it would be cheaper to fix a few more things than to get a another car and have to fix all of those things. However, I don't know if I want to find something else wrong with it later. things keep popping up, even things not related to whatever the shop has done before. I had adamently put my input on not using a shop, but on how I didn't have the money to do it myself at the time, my rents sent it away to the shop. It was a way to keep it in my possession and to be able to keep driving it period. It was a gamble I probably shouldn't have taken and should have waited til I had money saved. But even after this like 5k already done (not including labor) there is:
-another 750 for body work, (someone hit me, and is being an ass)
-it wearing tires very unevenly, (i need new fronts after 20k miles)
-plus the rough engine noise hasn't gotten any better since I replaced the MAFS
-now it has a violent rattle on harder accelerations in gears 2 and 3.
-front left headlight is cracked
-windshield washer nozzles are broken

It may be better to just fix this few and it will be fine, but I have a feleing something else will pop up again, so I am looking in case something either does, or to jump the gun and get rid of it before it does. I'm not getting tired of it, just I don't want to deal with any more shit from it.

that's also what i'm kind of wondering. If the accident is not your fault then you should not have to pay for more than your deductible for the cost of fixing the car. If it is your fault and you do not have collision coverage on your insurance policy i can understand the high cost of repair. It seems like the problems you mentioned before shouldn't cost more than a couple hundred $$ max. I know i've ragged on my '86 vw and it doesn't have the best history, but my parents and i haven't even dropped more than $1.5k on unscheduled maintenance on it in its lifetime (owned since '86).
