AutoX classification for my GS-T

thats a good idea... I know we are hosting NASA's autox's which are basically our own events, but it would be cool to have a local lot to practice/mess around in. OG's- have you, or should I say when have you, discussed this matter before?

Liability becomes an issue. The club doesn't have it's own insurance.

DierwulfBL Wrote:And whoever was talking about "jack assery" on "streets", if that comment was directed towards me, ill have you know THE ONLY ticket ive EVER acquired was a PARKING TICKET about 3 weeks ago, which is much less than whoever made the comment im sure. Any and all road racing in fluvanna is done on UNPOPULATED roads (something a lot of you probably dont know about) or even private paved roads.

Just because you haven't gotten ticketed doesn't mean you were not breaking the law. Furthermore, I think you miss the point. Blasting around on back roads that you think are unpopulated or whatever is not a great idea. We know plenty of people who thought they were doing just that and have totalled their cars and may have gotten hurt in the process. Just because you haven't crashed yet doesn't mean you won't. I think the definition of jackassery here is driving near or at the limit on public roads. Taking 20 mph turns at 70 certainly qualifies.

That is not to say some of us haven't done that but it is certainly to say that some of us have done it and crashed and we know many others who have done the same. Just trying to let you know that unexpected stuff on public roads (or private for that matter) can lead to your car's untimely demise (and possibly yours too). But really, no one here is really trying to lecture you, its just that a lot of the things you have said are things we've heard many, many times before. Don't take it personal, just try to take the advice of people who have been where you're at.

Rallycrossing is really cool and I'd love to be able to get into it but just like a bunch of other types of motorsport I don't really have the time or money right now. You guys will have a good time doing it.

On autocross we have some events we'll be putting on under NASA that members will be able to participate in for a significant discount. We may even be able to run an event in the HBG/Shenandoah Valley area.

I said it. And i'll say it again. Just because you havent gotten a ticket for it does not mean you're less likely to wad your car into a tin can.

Oh, i keep a running list of things i find on the net that are a direct result of jackass behavior on public roads. Enjoy:
