Ok, I've got a "more better" answer for fixing up headlights Smile

Before:

Then you wetsand with 1000 grit sand paper, and then 2000 grit

Next up, Mothers aluminum polish. Now you'll probably say "double-u-tee-eff mate", because thats what I said. But the good ol' boy behind the counter at napa in herndon (those guys fucking rock) said it was the shizzle dizzle, so I gave it a shot, and even compared it to 3M rubbing compound. Sho'nuff it works a lot better.

Finally, finish up with some Meguiar's swirl free polish on your orbital buffAr

And we're done

Does anyone know how to get the water out of the damn headlights? The vent on it isnt clogged up, so I ass-u-me the seal on the plastic is bad, and that I'd have to heat it up in the oven to get it apart and reseal it.

Drill a hole, dry it out and seal it back up.

Well there's holes in the back for the headlight bulbs, i guess i could just throw a heat gun in there to dry out the water

that'd work to. my headlights have 2 layers, sometimes water gets trapped between the layers, more so on the aftermarket knockoffs, which I left most of in the grass at VIR...

a good little writeup on cleaning lenses, of course this applies to other cars too.

The lense cleaning bit is fun. I do it all the time at the shop. Take a set of useless yellow things and turn them into fresh bling. Removing the reflector is something I was gonna do on my Sebring but never got around to it...now I just don't care. Oh and for really bad lights I have started as low as 800grit paper then worked back to 2000. Some light compound and finish polish works best for finishing it off.

back when i had my integra, i'd just use metal polish and it'd clear those bitches right up. as for the condensation, you can just use a paper towel on the end of like a coat hanger or something long and slender to dry up the highbeam housing. the lowbeam has that lens in the way, so you'd have to air that bitch out. you could try drilling more holes in the back to get more air flow which might let more water in but it'd also let more water out, and since its a track car, it'd probably only collect water when you're mowing the lawn at south bend

I've thought about doing this mod again to my current Subaru, but the STi HID assembly is way more sensitive to moisture than the halogens of the WRX. I'd really hate to fuck these lights up, considering the entire assembly is like $1800.

Yeah, I've seen some of those RockBlocker headlight / taillight masks that look pretty cool, you can get a bluish tint for HIDs that makes them look like Benz headlights. Supposedly don't reduce your visibility really either.

I'm going to cover mine with lamin-x - probably yellow. They have to be covered to race.

Nice, how much does Lamin-X cost ? The RockBlocker headlight masks are actually surprisingly cheap, you might could look into some.
