I'm a big fan of Smooth Jazz. David Benoit, Kenny Garrett, Marcus Miller, Spyro Gyra, B├®la Fleck, etc.

When we were rolling through the mountains on 33 and 250 last saturday, XM71 Watercolors - Smooth Jazz was perfect.

I've heard a bit of astral projection, it was good. I've mostly been listening to the radio on my iTunes cause I just got into it big. If you have any way for me to get some mp3s, cds, or other stuff, that'd be great. thanks.

For punk covers of anything: Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.
Reggae: Chaka Demus and the Pliers
And..All American Rejects are good...George Thorogood is great bar blues type stuff.... Although lately I'm into Metallica and Rage Against the Machine, ACDC...rock stuff.

old metallica kicked ass, im not a big fan of this new stuff =-/. I stopped listening after the recording w/the symphony in Cali. Im a big fan of Hidden in Plain View...a mix between punk/rock...pretty good stuff.

Edit: You guys into the rock stuff might also like a band called Rise Against. The guys voice is raspy as hell =-/ but the music is very good, and the lyrics are amazing (if that stuff matters to ya -_-). Good driving music, very fast music.

so i picked up the new queens of the stone age (lullabies to paralyze) and the new audioslave (out of exile) a couple of weeks ago. i'm really addicted to both. if you're into rock, you wont go wrong with these albums. also, a lesser known band is 33west. my buddy from way back in the day is in the band, along with some other former JMU people (hence the name, 33 west). i dont know why i didnt plug them earlier in this thread, but they are a really good punk/ska type band. they plalyed hyperfest last year if anyone remembers that and came 2nd in the nation for the hard rock battle of the bands back in like 2002 i think it was.

I know it's totally my style and thus no one elses...but for what it's worth...anytime I do any spirited driving, I play jazz. Mostly smooth jazz with the occasional track from Miles or Brubeck. I've found that jazz keeps me relaxed so I can focus on all the things to go faster, safer. Plus, when I'm relaxed I tend to have much better vision of the road.

Listened to alittle of it, and as much of a fan as I am of dangermouse and damon albarn, I don't know if I like it.

In regard to music, you can't go wrong with Radiohead.
I've been listening to Kings of Convenience, Kathleen Edwards and Mos Def. If you like the Shins, you'd probably like the first two recommendations.

^^ is a search engine for Drum and Bass sets that are on many different D&B forums. Not sure if anybody besides me is into this, but incase you are, or are just curious. IMO D&B is the best music to drive to. Beat is so fast, and bass is so hard :twisted:

Mostly into metal. New Darkest Hour is good, Corrosion of Conformity that just came out is good too. Children of Bodom makes good driving music. At the gates...and Unearth.

Those are the CD's that consistently make my rotation.

I do enjoy D&B as kinda a background driving music. Just something to get going to!!! I also prefer my occasional trance and house for driving.
