Foresters own ! The only Subaru I've ever hated driving is the pooparu, but that thing is 17 years old. The Stratus was brand new, it shouldn't have an excuse. I can understand that it's not meant to be a sporty car, that's fine. But what exactly does it do besides suck ? It's gas mileage is horrendous for a commuter car, it's not comfortable as a daily driver (yah, that's imo), and it handles like a derailed freight train.

I couldn't see you driving a Forester and being like "damn this this is really terrible all around." The AWD is money, the standard Foresters I've driven in have decent acceleration and great gas mileage. You're right though, you really can't compare a quality Japanese auto maker to an American one that puts out a shitty car that people buy anyway.

Sure, maybe the R/T is better overall, I can't say because I haven't driven it. But have you driven the upgraded Forester XT for example ?!? That thing is an STI in a grocery-getter body basically =p

I wasn't trash talkin' Subaru at all, I was just tryin to make a point. But what the fuck ever. I actually like Subaru a lot (my fav. Asian car company). Well, I'm done here. This is a worthless waste of a thread on MM...

Hehe, no worries man. I wouldn't say the thread itself is so much of a waste as it is a joke. It got some laughs I'm sure, that's all I wanted out of it.

I respect the brand loyalty, I know how you feel. What Dodge comes factory with a 3.0L supercharged engine ? I'm just curious, I don't know a whole lot about those cars.

If that's a modified Dodge then I don't see what the big deal is. You could strap a blower onto any engine. It doesn't mean the tranny or the clutch (or the engine) will be intact after you drive it around some. I could post a pic of the engine bay (or even a video of the track run if the links were working) of a 591.1 WHP USDM STI running 10s on the stock block and stock transmission, but what's the point. It sure didn't come from the factory that way ! :roll:

Guaranteed there are some Vipers or SRT-10s that post similar or better numbers with higher horsepower ratings. To go off topic some, I think those STI numbers are pretty impressive though considering it's a streetable car using the stock engine and tranny. Not bad for a four door saloon !

(Also off topic. That Top Gear reference reminds me of the episode where Jeremy test drives the SRT-10 Viper and makes fun of the fact that the door sills catch on fire after some spirited driving. :lol: )

mmmm the smell of burning fiberglass. There is no supercharged factory Mitsubishi 3.0L. There is however a 3.2L S/C V6, in the Crossfire. That isnÔÇÖt directly related but it is a supercharged Chrysler product. I sensed the sarcasm but I figured I would state the fact. Travis pointed out that a S/C Stratus is about like a S/C Maxima, a funny thing people do to an obscure car. "Who cars about 3rd Generation Eclipse and Status," that was the definitive T quote on the subject. Also, an STI with 500+ hp is a mean machine, they are mean right off the showroom floor, but so is a SRT-4 :lol:. **raises glass**

You need to be careful with your words. I promise he is not running a stock bottom end (pistons, rods, bearings, etc) at that power level. Who cares if the actual block itself is stock...no one makes aftermarket blocks for subaru.

I'm pretty sure Cobb does:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://cobbtuning.com/wrx/engine-assembled-tuner.html#20">http://cobbtuning.com/wrx/engine-assemb ... er.html#20</a><!-- m -->

I know Magnus makes some for subaru's as well, there's a guy over on NASIOC trying to unload his.

I only read through a few of the 18 pages of posts, but yeah he's not running stock internals with that much wheel horsepower:
"Tuned by me only one. But the car blow the motor because the owner never check the oil level of the car and He was street racing with an EVO for more than 15 minutes and running up to 150mph on every pass.

I think that if you have a good knock control on the car the motor resist very high horspower levels.

591whp STI no longer have stock internals. For that kind of power we dont want to see the stock internal flying around.

At this moment I am working on a Stock internals STI trying to reach 520whp.

Gadiel"

Also very impressive if he's successful. Running 300 whp more than what the car came with stock on the engine that it came with stock owns~

Here's that thread if you're really bored: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=716174">http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=716174</a><!-- m -->

guy sounds like a fucktard with too much money... hopefully he'll grow a brain before he seriously hurts someone racing 150mph on public roads.

Yah, the owner of that car sounds like a rich idiot, but the tuner that worked on it does amazing things. Apparently it's a pretty popular thing for people to drive / ship their STIs to exotic places and have them professionally tuned by guys like this one while they go away on vacation in Mexico or the Caribbean.

You are telling me Cobb and Magnus actually cast or machine an ej20 or ej25 block out of a solid piece of metal? Because they don't....they build shortblocks with forged internals and iron sleeves. Which are needed on these engines if you want to make that kind of power.
