Weird that they wouldn't have an option to switch from Celsius to Fahrenheit like every other foreign car.

This should be a nice reliable car for you. My friend had one that he thrashed the shit out of all the time and it was perfectly reliable. He even put on a supercharger at 100K and as far as I know it's still kicking well past that. When we tested the compression right before putting the supercharger on, it was only like 2-3 psi off factory spec on all 4 cylinders.

i hope it is, and its part of my draw to buying it. the K series seems to be able to handle a stupid amount of punishment which works well with how i tend to keep cars for a long time. that's cool to hear your friend's Si is still romping along. those compression wear numbers are amazing.

My 9-2x was a Canadian spec and the only way to get Fahrenheit was a cluster swap.

I quickly learned 17-22 degrees was my sweet spot.

I still remember the time I went to a NOPI Nationals show with my dad when I was 16. Some chick in the bikini contest came out with a Borat style suit on and the dude in front of me was just shamelessly going for a vagtastic close-up the whole time, good times. The drag racing was pretty cool too I guess. Their website looks like it hasn't changed since then lol.

yeah that part sucks, but i dealt with the KEN BLOCK BRO subaru nonsense for the last 10 years and you just learn to ignore a lot of people. thankfully the cars are getting old now to the point most of the scene kids have moved on to the 9th or 10th gen civics or are getting their hands on other stuff like the BRZ/FRS now.

i was actually never huge on the looks but i think its prettier than my 2.5RS ever was.

its definitely fun. that's what its all about. you're not going to take anyone's pink slips or hunt down 350Z's in the mountains...its just quick enough and you feel like you're driving something that wants to be driven even if you're just putzing around town getting 35mpg :thumbup:

changed the oil, mostly just due to not knowing what's in there now and wanting to be able to beat on it with confidence.

looking at the procedure....i have to take a wheel off? splashguard off? the filter is where?


this is, hands down, the worst oil filter location i've ever seen. coming from a subaru, which is probably the easiest car on the planet to change the oil on (you can literally do it one-handed) this was a crappy surprise. thank goodness the oil change intervals on this things are like 10k miles. i don't want to do this more than once a year.

so i get it in the air and take all the crap off, and because the filter mount is directly over the axle boot i got a Form-A-Funnel to send the filter oil drippings out over the control arm. the funnel worked awesome. that was the only awesome part.


red circle is the filter mount. unscrewing the filter off isn't so bad once you contort your arm up and over the steering rack, but snaking it out of the opening over the driveshaft was a trick, it barely fits. i had pre-filled a new filter beforehand to go on, and guess what? yeah, dumped it all out, over everything, trying to get it in the opening and resorting to turning it sideways. this covered the sides in oil. so now i can't tighten the filter on because my gloves are slipping all over the filter :lol: AAUUGH


whatever, its on there now, next time i do this i'll be good and beered up beforehand so i can laugh at myself instead of cursing

The F150 requires snaking the filter out and trying real hard to avoid a mess. A couple local Ford dealerships send me coupons (and I have a buddy who works at Ted Britt, so sometimes I get a hookup there) so I am all too happy to pay a max of $39 to let someone else do the work while I drink all the coffee in the waiting room.

My oil changes tend to align with the hottest summer days and coldest winter days, too, so there is appeal in not being outside on the ground at those times.

If you take that cowl off there is a surprising amount of room on the backside of the engine. I remember being surprised how much there was when we put a header on my friends.

Whether or not that's worth it to do an oil change I don't know. It's been too long to remember what all you have to take off to get the cowl off.

That's just because you don't own a 1.8T they had in the B5. It's been years, but I remember that being about as bad as what Scott described.
