Help Momma Hughes get a new car.

Used G37 or G37x if she wants AWD. Reliable, somewhat sporty and luxurious for under 30k. Plus you get the option of coupe or sedan depending on preferences.

If I had to get a more "normal" car and wanted something newer, I would be looking at these.

Jake Wrote:Mikey, for someone who dotes on interior quality so much, I can't believe you recommended a Crossfire. Have you sat in one? I swear they made the dash and door panels out of compressed foam and recycled Nikes. The car is pretty, but doesn't drive particularly well and the interior is garbage.

Did he say she cared about interior? Just working with what we have. Fear not, I would not personally buy a Crossfire.

That rear spoiler really helps balance out the look of those.

Ask Evan. I beleive he didnt like theirs, but I dont know why.

Everyone I know that has one...gets like 16-18mpg on avg. I don't know why either cause they aren't car people so its not like they are flooring it everywhere.

A5 'vert seems the reasonable answer.

^ Expensive as fuck.

I was gonna suggest a 335i or A5 'vert, but both of those are stuck in the high-30s-low-40s for well-optioned CPO cars. If you went with the smaller motors or skipped some options you could probably find one around 30k.

What other vehicles do you guys have in your fleet? Would this be the only car she had access to? I'm thinking that something Z4/1-series/BRZ sized might end up being a little too "sporty" for Momma Hughes with the lack of space and harsh ride (not so much in the case of the 1-series). I think something a little larger would still check the sporty box but be more comfortable and usable so she was happy with it for a long time.

IS 2/350 Convertible? A quick cars.com search tells me you can find them around $30k with 40-60k on them.

If I were her I would go to Autotrader, punch in my max price, select convertibles or coupes and just look down through the list.

You've got newer 328i's, Camaros, Corvettes, CTS, Cayman, A5, Volvo C70, Mustang GTs, 370Zs, IS250Cs, SLK300s, E350s, it goes on and on.

I'll talk to her about CTS, she had an SRX and liked it. I don't think she's too into American cars. IS250 is another good one too. How's the gas mileage on that? The current cars are a toyota highlander and the tsx. They're unsure which they will keep but I think it's leaning to keeping the TSX and selling the toyota. She wasn't really worried about cargo space.

I think my brother averaged 27mpg on the highway in his old rwd IS250. It wasn't exactly sporty though. The CTS was a good car, just in typical Merican car fashion it started to show a number of annoying QC issues and electrical glitches.

the 250 looks sporty and i think it'd at least hang with her tsx so it is probably good enough.

250 may be a good option. Also since we're talking about cars. What are you opinions on Z3's? LIke an early 2000's. I've been contemplating just grabbing one for a few months to toy around with.

It was a good car. It handled well enough, solidly built, fast and torquey, had a good transmission for a slush and sounded good at WOT. Didnt really have much tech to speak of or standout features that impressed, not that thats a deal killer.

It was more of a "ALL luxury cars are really fucking stupid" thing for me personally (and coincidentally, my wife). it just wasnt 'worth it' IMO. Expensive, guzzled premium fuel, expensive to maintain, burned through tires and pads. And the return on that investment just wasnt important enough to me. All that was left was trying to be a typical NOVA yuppie and impress people with my luxury brand name. fuck that.
She likes her Focus a lot more.
