I miss flash.
edit: Also, where the FUCK is Erskine? I heard he had a "falling out" with the Coaching staff but...seriously? The guy is a bad ass on the ice...if we're going to out-muscle the Bruins why not have Erskine out there? I don't get it.

I don't think we're going to out muscle the bruins...that wouldn't work. Our real advantage is in speed and skill, which is why MP85 and Aucoin are playing rather than Erskine and Knuble.
We played the Bruins well this season and part of me thinks (barring a total goalie meltdown) that we could steal one in Boston and win in 6, but somehow it seems more likely that we'll go up 3-1 and then choke it away...

Looks like the odds makers think Boston in 5. I'm thinking it'll probably be Boston in 6.
Boston Bruins 4-1 - 4.00
Boston Bruins 4-2 - 4.50
Boston Bruins 4-3 - 5.00
Boston Bruins 4-0 - 7.00
Washington Capitals 4-2 - 7.50
Washington Capitals 4-3 - 8.00
Washington Capitals 4-1 - 13.00
Washington Capitals 4-0 - 21.00

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

these are my thoughts

You mean the one where they lost the SCF in 7 games because their all-star goalie suddenly caught a case of the "Jose Threeorfours"? If this series goes to 7 games and we lose at least in large part because Tim Thomas outplays Holtby I think I can live with that...
Obviously the answer is somewhere in the middle - sure the players have to stick up for themselves and each other, which is partially why the top line looks like it will by Ovie, Laich and Brouwer...but at the same time if we go out there and just try to goon it up we don't have much chance. We have to play smart, defend, take our chances on rushes and hopefully draw some penalties.
I'm not saying we're likely to win, I think Boston is a better team, especially on defense, but if we're going to win it isn't going to be because we beat the Bruins at their game, it'll be because we find the weaknesses in their game and exploit them.

Its a nice surpise and has been fun to watch, especially Ovi. Ill take this over Dale Hunter hockey anyday.
The Erat trade is potentially (likely...) one of the most boneheaded trades in recent memory gives a sour note to an otherwise fun season though.
oh, and more holtbeast

We'll see what happens next year when the Caps play in a real division for the first time in 15 years.

Julie and I were talking about this last night. Being King of Shit Mountain, you're still king but no one is going to be overly impressed. The rest of the SE has the worst goalies in the league, so while it's a big deal to come back from such a godawful start...anyone who is talking about the guy who makes the black and yellow tools right now needs to check themselves.
Next year we will definitely find ourselves in interesting times. Have they named the new divisions yet? I am too lazy to google.

No names yet. I hope they bring back Smythe, Patrick, Norris and Adams.
I'm not sure why they would put 16 teams in the east and 14 in the west. Seems like it would make much more sense to move someone like Detroit to the west and make it 15/15.
