Total boof! Dealer emails me this morning super frustrated because the dealership that had it sold it out from under him basically the day he took the deposit. Deposit refunded and the search continues! It's all good though, if it wasn't meant to be then there is a better one in the future Smile

No good news yet on tracking down a car that makes sense to buy, so unless the dealers i have looking for me dig up something awesome a car purchase may go on hold for a while. Been trading emails with dealers in Tysons Corner and Pennsylvania on two XFRs. the Tysons dealer is way lowballing on my trade in and wants $4k to certify it (lol) and the PA car has a dented rear bumper from a driveway accident that needs to be addressed. Still considering a 2010 CPO Supercharged trim or a 2011 Supercharged. The CPO on a 2010 is pretty much mandatory because most if their warranties are timing out soon. A 2012 Supercharged is also a possibility because of the styling changes and updated touch screen interface but that prices me into XFR territory.

I decided to test drive an ISF anyway when i get home on the off chance i like it as much as the XF. If i can find an M56S locally to test drive that is going to happen too as that's the only car that compares interior wise with the Jag that i have driven so far

Any interest in an LS460 still? We have a nice one on the lot at Mid Atlantic Motorwerkes.

No interest on the LS after I sat in one. Good looks on the tip though!

Stopped by the BMW dealership today because I don't feel like I gave bimmers a fair shake, especially after Rex's good recommendation of the 550i. A few people who work there are friends & go to my church so our sales guy was really cool. I sat in an M3 convertible and was reminded how awesome that car is and sounds. Wife also loved it (obviously) even though she has also done her best to steer me away from BMWs. I sat in a newer (2012 I think) 550i and I liked the interior and features but I am sorry, the exterior really sucks. I really don't want to buy a car that you can't distinguish from the 125109151 other BMWs around Charlotte. I feel very different about the 550i with the Msport package / body kit but obviously that is also rare and makes it harder to find, which is the story of my car search.

Infiniti dealership was on the way home, was hoping they had an M56 to test drive. The sales guy said they don't stock them anymore and only special order them because nobody bought them (lol). Sat in an M37 (interior is basically the same) and i really like layout and materials, it is really well designed. However what the sales guy said coupled with some rough long-term reviews I read from C&D made me not super crazy about putting it higher on the list. Definitely want to test drive it still though. Lexus does not have any IS-Fs as of today that I can even test drive so still waiting on that one.

I DID find a 2010 XFR though the Sonic network (same Cadillac dealer/sales guy I have worked with and is super awesome) but the mileage is higher than I want, it's out of warranty and by the time it gets shipped here and tax tags etc. it's going to be almost $50k for a not so mildly used car.

Here it is. I am still shooting him a note about it because it is a great interior / exterior color combo:

So I had a contract in my inbox for an absolutely mint black on black 2010 XFR with 13k miles today. Went back and forth over the last two weeks negotiating and finally felt good about the numbers. Car was enthusiast owned, rarely driven, he died and his widow sold it to the same dealership they bought it from. It was CPO so was supposed to carry a 6 year 100k warranty.

Contract shows up and it says 22 months left or 100k miles on warranty. Apparently Jaguar uses the original purchase date for the start of their CPO warranties, which is dumb. I don't think my Caddy CPO warranty was like that but I could be wrong.

Anyway I did not feel comfortable spending that much money on a car like that and only getting less than 2 years worth of warranty on it. So the hunt begins again Sad Regardless that may push me away from that particular car because any 2010 is going to be that way. I am touching base with a dealer in FL for a 2012 supercharged model which should have plenty of warranty left in it. This is the one: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.offleaseonly.com/used-car/Jaguar-XF-Supercharged-SAJWA0HE2CMS37630.htm">http://www.offleaseonly.com/used-car/Ja ... I am in a good position where I don't NEED a car so it gives me the leverage to wait until I feel 100% on a car. I also plan to buy an old truck at the end of the year to have as a relative gas sipper daily / winter beater / transport for furniture & home improvement stuff as we fix up the house. Probably look to spend about $5k on an old Toyota, which would be my 4th Toyota truck. if you all have any other recommendations for trucks in that price range I am all for it. That should be a lot easier search than this one.

I'm pretty sure that how most, if not all, makers do it.

It might be. I have had recent warranty work though and I am past the 6 year mark of original purchase date.

Finally located an M56 to test drive in Charlotte. Got a test drive scheduled for this Saturday, I'll post up my impressions!

And I locked down a GT500 test drive tomorrow evening and I think a 2011 ISF (w/ LSD) on Saturday! Should be a fun weekend!

Wow lol GT500 is definitely not going to happen. That car is completely barbaric, it's the only way to describe it. Awesome sound, awesome looks, stupid torque that puts a grin on my face and absolutely no traction in most gears. Broke the tires loose a couple of times on the test drive and was just shaking my head and laughing. There is no way I could drive that car every day or even on the weekends and feel safe or comfortable in it. I still love it and enjoy the concept of the car but it is not for me.

XFR warranty people called while at the Ford dealership and were able to put together an aftermarket warranty that will go on top of the CPO warranty starting on purchase date. That might seal the deal, but I still may wait until after weekend test drives

Hey, that's a Tremec TR-6060, aka God's Own Gearbox. If it's fucked, it's because Ford did something to fuck it up.
