I've been out of town all week for work so I'm late to this thread, but like always it was an awesome weekend.
My instructor was very helpful this time. His name is Rob Myles and does a lot of time trials and tech for the Eastern Motor Racing Association (www.emraracing.org). Looks like a small group that would help teach more of the competition driving aspect.
The E30 held up well. I started pushing it a bit more and had one "ass puckering" moment coming out of turn 5 and oversteering towards the wall. I straightened the wheel out, looked where I wanted to go, dropped 2 wheels off into a hole, and then maintained control and made turn 6.
I'm very impressed with the brakes, but the handling is still sloppy. My instructor said I need to install the sways to match the spec e30 suspension I have. It tends to feel unsettled in mid turn. So thats on the list for the winter. I also think I warped the brake rotors... or did something because they make a thud sound when braking now.
Pete, I also was disconnected on Saturday. I just wasn't in the game and actually zoned in on an RX-7 for 2 laps until I realized I wasn't braking enough going into 5 and had to go around him to avoid hitting him. Wasn't smart on my part, but was definately a learning experience.
Congrats to Evan and RJ! Its always great seeing you guys finish up top.
Jay Ray, can you email me pics of my car: c.procopio@gmail.com. thanks!
