hooo man. if i was replacing the fuel pump i'd go through the rear seat like what you'd do. but for a filter....
- get under car. get dirt in your contacts.
- remove bolts that connect the fuel tank straps to the car. let tank drop down.
- jam stuff on top of the tank to make it drop a bit more since it's wedged up in there.
- move ebrake cable, fuel lines
- fish around for your metric torx bits and put one in your gearwrench
- reach up to the fuel filter that's nesting halfway on top of the tank you just dropped
- loosen strap holding filter in with said gearwrench/torx combo
- get more crap in your eyes, leaves in hair
- pull filter down, unbolt, spill gas everywhere, including open wounds
- put in new filter, bolt back in, push back up where it came from
- try in vain for an hour to get the tank straps to line back up, resort to creative uses of scrap 2x4's.
- curse Audi and pray filter lasts 1 billion miles
sometimes....i just don't know why i do this stuff. at least i know well enough now to get it done mad fast next time around
