Maybe IBM just made a better sales pitch. Maybe they offered better warranty support. Or hummers. Who knows... if the employees are happy with them, then who gives a shit?
This is a pretty pointless discussion at this stage, but anyway
It all comes down to dollars. Always. Different companies look at dollars differently (long term, short term, etc) but its the same. A big company doesnt make a several million dollar decision on a whim or a blowjob. My company doesnt give a shit about if im happy with my laptop if it costs them another $500 over the course of the laptops life. Ive been involved in procurement for clients so Ive seen the volume pricing and support deals from most of the manufacturers. IBM is pretty expensive, Dell isnt. Take that for what you will, but my guess is that if a company picks IBM, they feel pretty strongly that the extra cost is worth it. Ill leave it at that, and we can all form our own opinions from here, as this horse is on its last breath.
