I have a couple IBM drives that have been in use since 98. Unless they are using cheaper drives like Maxtor that doesnt make sense.
As a data point, Booz Allen buys IBM laptops for all of its 16,000 employees, and since they are the most expensive laptops, there has got to be a reason.
