car is back and healthy. when my clutch was replaced last year, i went with some advice from other MM'ers and had them do the rear main seal while they were in there. sure enough, that new seal pooped out for some odd reason and was leaking oil all over the clutch disc...thus, the slippage. i had noticed my car was leaking something (thought it was just grease that was getting hot and dripping) and now i know.
so, new clutch disc, new TO bearing, and new (older model - more reliable) rear main seal all under warranty. whew! i was starting to go nuts driving the explorer.
hopefully tommorow will be the A8 brakes and maybe the fuel filter if i'm feeling really generous. but first, i need to wash the greasy handprints off my car.......
