Its definitely not going to register much extra power on the butt dyno but it does smooth out each and every gear as well as allow to boost longer and higher throughout the gears. Most gains are found in 4th, 5th, and 6th gear. For the money, the power improvement is minimal but the overall increase in driveability is much improved. I primarily got mine to be able to open up the exhaust in the near future and that will add significant hp and equal torque with EM... which will give you that seat of the pants power change. Hope this helps a bit. I got mine used for fairly cheap from a guy on the STi forums. This is all in regard to the Cobb system but the UTEC will be almost the exact same.
