Seeing how you don't live at the lake though i predict that you will never get the option. I remember calling adelphia 2 years ago and asking when itd be out here and they said never because they could never turn a profit so i was surprised we even got it.
Well, I was interested to see that NTelos offers 1.5Mbps wireless access to much of the Charlottesville area. Lake Monticello and Scottsville are covered. Based on their coverage map, we're borderline (but it looks to be line-of-sight, and I have no problem putting an antenna up 60ft if need be). And if that doesn't work, I've already got the equipment needed for 128 Kbps ISDN, just have to get Sprint to run the digital phone line. And of course, the option of true last resort is Direc-Way (or similar satellite services), but those are expensive to install and I've heard plenty of horror stories regarding service.
Considering that I'm posting this from a 28.8 dialup in Highland County, I guess even regular modem access wouldn't be life-ending. Of course I'd have to block images on this forum, since none of you morons can scale or compress them with any consistency
