I'll reiterate what both John and Andrew have said. No matter what your pay was, you have to start somewhere. When I first started working at NFCU back in the day my salary was only 30K as well, and as a collections officer you never work just 40 hours, it's always a 50 or more hour workweek. You know that going in if you ask, or you find it out rather quickly and if you can't put up with it you don't last there. It's all about dedication and wanting something more. You show them you're willing to put in the work and effort to be there and you get rewarded. If you don't want to be at a job it shows, and assuming their need for a body to do the work doesn't outweigh their desire to "trim the fat" you get canned.
