At summit, I used some Lucas octane booster (suposidly "not road legal" and according to some independant tests it really did raise the octane anywhere from 5-10 points) in the XR. The engine seemed to feel smoother, and run cooler, but in reality it wasn't a night/day difference. Peace of mind maybe... enough so that I will probably continue to use it or get the higher octane gas at the track.
I'd like to see how a 16oz bottle of anything is going to raise octane rating 5-10 points on a tank of gas. That just isn't mathmatically possible. If you want to run higher octane order a drum of VP fuel and mix it w/ 93, that is the ONLY surefire way to run a greater octane. The Lucas stuff might have some additives in it to help with deposits and clean injectors but no way will it turn 15 gallons of 93 into 100, that's like a story right out of Jack and the Beanstalk.
