1. Cheaper
2. Nearly as fast
3. Won't be tempted to dumb stuff on the street (well... maybe)
4. Won't get run over by cars since you won't drive it on street
5. 4 wheels
6. You can race it for cheap
7. Skills learned while racing for cheap can be applied to larger vehicles

Thanks Dad. I'm sure a kart is a ton of fun, but since you seem to be focusing on practicality issues, what about the fact that you can't even drive a kart on the street? And you don't think that you pick up racing skills/lines on a bike? Ok...
