put the tire on something to spin it.. basically two equal height poles with Vs on the top so the axle sits down in it.. and spin it.. mark the low spot.. and spin it again. the low spot should always be the same because its' the heaviest part of the tire. then you tape a weight to the opposite side of the tire and repeat the process until the 'low' spot becomes random.
It becomes worth it when you're going through a set of tires every 5 track days or every race weekend and you don't want to keep spending money to have them swapped. Or you need to change between dry/wet tires in the same weekend.
