Yes, its dangerous but so is riding a bike on the street. Or tracking a civic. You determine your acceptable level of risk, and go from there. Tracking a bike with professional instruction (not a bunch of "instructors" racing each other in student groups) significantly reduces that risk, and increases the potential to learn to be a better rider. Those shop-sponsored track days are a complete clusterfuck.
Its like the difference between a carguys HPDE and a summit point "seat time".
